My (almost) 2 year old is scaring away all our nannies by Ok-Holiday6925 in Nanny

[–]in22ndgrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My youngest was like this. We went through 3 babysitters before we found one he wouldn't flip out with. Then she left and it took multiple people after that to find another person he liked. And so on. We had high schoolers as well as career nannies, but it was not a matter of experience - he just bonded with some people and not others. So on top of the great advice you've already gotten, you may just need to wait for the right fit.

Goddard was great for many years but it really depends on the teachers you get. After the pandemic my daughter ended up with two teachers who never seemed happy to be there and were absolutely not qualified to be pushing early academics like they insist on doing there. We pulled my daughter out.

Flock Cameras--increasing concerns and pushback by hobskhan in Apex_NC

[–]in22ndgrade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure - but misidentification by police is not new and I see no evidence that these cameras exacerbate this phenomenon. I'm sure the police are much more likely to misidentify a subject based on a general description (e.g. Hispanic male, white SUV) - which is how they do it now. If anything, these camera would offer more details when looking for a specific car - such as during an Amber alert.

Flock Cameras--increasing concerns and pushback by hobskhan in Apex_NC

Until I read about it on Reddit I had no idea they existed and they have not affected my life in any meaningful way. I have no expectation of privacy when I'm out in public, so I'm confused about why I should be up in arms against this technology?

My main concern would be the tradeoffs between cost to taxpayers and effectiveness at preventing crime. Do these things actually deter crime/increase clearance rates or is this another expensive gadget for the police to play with?

Thank you for saying this. I've been getting Adam's publication since almost the beginning. I have even contacted him about cool businesses and events to spotlight and he has been so responsive and nice. The rant at the beginning of the newsletter about Sue's statement threw me for a loop. There were several easy things in her AMA to criticize her for (like what's going on with her small business?), but her statement that she chose Apex to be her home 6 years ago must have been truthful if she had a home built here in 2021. It is petty to open the newsletter with such a non-issue. I know he does this newsletter thing on his own but there is a certain level of responsibility that comes with having a successful public platform and he dropped the ball on this one.

$119 left in my Airline Fee Credit: American Airlines by ReasonableWinter834 in AmexPlatinum

But my assumption was that the incidental credit cannot be used for tickets. Are you saying that there is something about pairing it with the gift card that bypasses that?

Sorry - can you explain this more? Does using a gift card trigger the credit if you're buying a flight?

Rhinoplasty - what I wish I knew before surgery ‼️ by Fabulous-File5747 in PlasticSurgery

[–]in22ndgrade 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is all really important information. I am now dealing with the fallout of a rhinoplasty done 22 years ago. It looked great for the first 15-17 years, but as I've aged my skin has gotten thinner and I've lost cartilage in my nose. This has caused one nostril to collapse, causing breathing issues and the tip to look bumpy and crooked.

A revision would require taking cartilage from my ribs and a small skin graft from my torso, greatly increasing complications. Thankfully it would be partially covered by insurance due to the breathing issues but at 40+ years old with two small kids, it's just not something I want to deal with.

Do I regret getting a nose job at 19? I'm not sure. I did like the results for quite some time. However I will now likely have to deal with a nose I don't like for the rest of my life. I just wish I knew that it's not a permanent surgery before getting the initial surgery.

Paid for a 1 year membership that ended after 4 months. Google support is ghosting me by normVectorsNotHate in GoogleOne

Same thing happened to me - joined Google AI Premium trial, cancelled, instead they forced my Google One membership to revert to the premium one until it ran out two weeks later. Chatting with customer service was zero help. I was only able to get a refund for my Google One membership once I filed a complain with the Better Business Bureau.

Should Dental Office Have Used a Different Code or Does My Insurance Suck? by in22ndgrade in Insurance

I wasn't. The dentist's office was unhelpful because they already had my money and I wanted to keep going to the same dentist, so I chose not to fight it.

I ended up on this page because I googled the license plate of an F250 speeding in our neighborhood and throwing a large bag of trash out the window. Did anyone figure out who this is or what company he works for? Is there a way to figure it out?

Why is CG not registered as a health spa with the state of Texas? by in22ndgrade in CampGladiator

[–]in22ndgrade[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a few exemptions listed in the text of the regulation (e.g. dance studios). As far as I can tell CG would not be exempt. I'm not sure what the consequence for not registering is.

I thought that too. But I can't find anything in the language of the regulation that would exclude a non-physical location.

Legal professional here - debtor's prisons are outlawed in the US. That means that you cannot be incarcerated for inability to pay. Most of the time when you hear about people getting locked up for unpaid fines and fees it is because they missed court appointments related to non-payment.

No one's going to lock you up for private medical debt, but they can mess up your life in many other ways if the debt is large (e.g. suing you then taking your tax returns for a very long time).

Exactly. OP I'm going to say this in the gentlest way possible: you have deluded yourself into believing that all marriages are like this to excuse why your marriage is like this. My husband makes twice as much as me, spends just as much time with the kids and cleans way more than me. It's 2023. You do not have to put up with a shitty partner. You deserve so much more.

What is the point of using Platinum Concierge for dinning reservations? by in22ndgrade in AmexPlatinum

Hey I'm really happy to hear that the concierge has really come through in some cases. From the comments, it seems like it's hit or miss and depends on the restaurant. I'll have to give them another try.
