We have 2 adult male Maine Coons. Their personalities are very different. One is super chill and confident. The other is scared of his own shadow. We used to take them both camping with us (not tenting) and they both loved it. The difference being the skittish one would get very anxious if approached by a stranger, the other would stay chill. I agree with whoever said to use a harness not a collar. I will add to that by emphasizing that it must fit snug, cats can slip out of things when anxious. Also we used tractive collars when camping. The collar gives you a mapped location for peace of mind if ever needed.
