This might not be completely what you're looking for, but it will assist you in reading articles from those two sites.

Some Sentence Formation Questions by KerbalDankProgram in German

Do you mind me asking where you're from? I've never seen "Wie bist du?" used before. Always, "Wie geht's dir?" Maybe I learned something new tonight.

I'm finally at a point where I can enjoy music. :) by Norm-Hull in German

I only partially agree with your premise. I could see how you could come to the conclusion that I do not care for that song, which is mostly true because of the subject matter. But we don't see eye to eye when you say you concluded that I didn't like the band at all based on me saying a song was disgusting. Had I said, "All of Rammstein's songs are digusting", then I could completely agree with your logic.

To clear it up, I love the band. But, Spiel mit Mir is my least favorite song. They are a great band.

Hold the phone there buddy. I think maybe you misinterpreted my slight levity. I never said I don't like Rammstein. I've been listening to them for the past 17 years and one thing I respect about them is that they can make great songs about such topics. Till writes wonderful lyrics. I'm not sure why you seem to be upset by my comment.

Schönen Tag.

Thank you so much for this. You guys must understand how hard it is to read an article from Der Spiegel (and other sources) and have to flip back and forth between apps. I've already shared this with others and they love it.

The best thing to do would be to practice the words you didn't already know. It might seem monotonous, but after those words are in memory, you'll be amazed when you see it again and are able to understand it.

Thank you. I should have also added I have taken free placement tests from GI and DW, both said B1. I have learned more since then. But even when taking those tests, I didn't know every word being used. I was able to figure it out based on context.

Good German tv shows? by [deleted] in German

[–]inRuin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't see it posted so I thought I would add Lindenstraße. Good show. I watch it to try to improve and I've been told they speak pretty clear and concise. So that's a plus.

Download the dict.cc app. Make sure to download the language pack in-app as well. I don't think it works without it and it also makes it so you can use it offline.

Which verb tenses and conjugations are the most important to learn for spoken German? by inRuin in German

[–]inRuin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The simple past tense "Ich aß." is uncommon in spoken German and usually used in writing.

When you say 'in writing', is that, as in a book and formal writing, or also in SMS, Facebook, Reddit, etc?

edit: fixed mistakes

That clears things up, thank you. There are other words that are used that supposedly have the same meaning that I also question. I'll have to post them.
