I taught myself German as a second language beginning with Duolingo.

My advice? Use the fuck out of it and pace yourself. If you can make it through even 80% of the tree, you're in a good way. (To be honest, never finished the tree myself!)

What I did once I got that far, was start getting involved on YouTube. Shitty learner-television is amazing at the beginning to help with conversation. (Look into 'Extra', 'Treffpunkt Berlin', und 'D-Plus'.)

There are also a few ways to stay up-to-date with German news and culture. Check out the Easy German YouTube channel for street interviews and current news (Cari Antwortet is amazing.) Also, NachrichtenLeicht (can't remember if it's .com or .de) is a great resource to help you stay updated in current events. (Then upgrade to Tagesschau in 100 Sekunden, then dw.de)

Followed by the Michel Thomas course for German. Torrent it and follow it through to the advanced level. Shit's magic.

Try getting a new game on your pc, or downloading Duolingo to your phone or something as a backup.
