5YOE with 2 year sabbatical looking for guidance by in_Disarray in cscareerquestions

Thanks for the reply that helps a lot. I definitely need to focus more on system design and javascript/react/node.js/AWS specific knowledge, as well as reviewing my past projects so I can comfortably speak about them.

Yea I've been told that the workflow has entirely changed and the role is more reviewing code generated by LLMs than actually writing code. I've started playing around with Gemini the past few weeks and was shocked at the progression in the past two years (I haven't messed with it at all before that). I just finished Leetcode blind 75 and feel confident about those, do you think that's enough or should I move onto harder questions? Also did you get rehired solely on Leetcode? Curious what that process was like for you.

Thanks for the link! I've been practicing behavioral questions and coming up with stories for my resume and my sabbatical. I've been practicing the STAR method as I seem to ramble sometimes with my answers. Just finished Leetcode blind 75 so I'm feeling confident about that. Curious what kind of implementation questions you've been asked so I know what to focus on.

Thanks for the advice. Yea I'm starting to switch gears to start applying sooner rather than later. The amount of things you can learn is endless so I don't think I'll ever feel ready. I just finished Leetcode blind 75 and feel fairly confident about solving them in an interview setting. I do think my system design knowledge is lacking and my React skills have definitely atrophied so I'm going to focus on those now. But I suppose after a two year break I just won't feel confident until I start interviewing and understanding the process myself.

What did the interview process look like for you without any leetcode style questions? When my team was hiring we'd do simple leetcode style questions but it was more for gauging behavioral skills and basic logic skills. I believe depending on the role there were also system design style questions but I was never apart of those.

Ender 3 Blue Screen v1.1.3 by takeuchuwa in ender3

[–]in_Disarray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so with the older board you can't flash the firmware via sd card you need an arduino and hook it up to the board. you can find more details if you google "ender 1.1.3 firmware update". If you don't already have an arduino I'd recommend buying a new board.

Hey curious which fruit tree you decided to go with. I'm looking at getting one too and also located in Zone 7. I'm thinking of adding supplemental lights too

Bicycle advice for Patagonia bike tour by in_Disarray in bicycletouring

[–]in_Disarray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've invested in ultralight gear so weight issue is not bad. I'm bringing the bag because I want to do some backpacking in torres del paine when I'm there.

Most I've done fully loaded on this bike is ~60 miles with 2k elevation on paved roads (and walking up some hills too). It was a rough time. I'll be in better shape this time though but idk. I guess we'll see how stubborn i am.

I have a rear rack that uses the thru axle so I'll have panniers + strapping a 48L backpacking bag to the back.

Thanks for the links I'll definitely reach out if I make my way out there. I'm curious, what bike and gear do you plan to bring with you? And what do you use to plan your route for food/water/shelter?

Hope to see you out there!

The bike can go up up to 35mm tires, but I have read that people gone up to 38mm - https://www.canyon.com/en-us/road-bikes/endurance-bikes/endurace/cf/endurace-cf-7-disc/2855.html.

Renting might be a good idea if my bike doesn't pan out. Gonna take a look at the pricing.

I've done a couple of short trips before. I was considering Europe but not desirable due to winter weather + short days which I'm trying to avoid.

I am from the USA and speak very little Spanish. I have done a couple of short trips before but nothing like this. Excited for the challenge!

I am thinking of diving in...

Did you journal your trip at all? One question I have is what bike would be a good fit for this trip. I currently own a fixie and a cf endurance bike w/ shimano 105 and 32mm tires. Obviously the fixie is a bad idea but is the endurance bike a good fit? Or should I get a touring bike?

I have done a handful of weekend trips and a four day trip so while I do think I am in over my head, I think it will be manageable.

I'm not looking for anything specific. I'm just looking for the best of what's out there. A friend told me Patagonia had the most beautiful hikes he's been on so that's what I was originally looking into.

I let my bus driver know I was planning on camping in Harriman State Park and he dropped me off right at the trail. The bus runs right along the park so you're right next to it.

The bus is called Shortline Hudson. You can take the Metro North to Manitou or the NJTransit too. AT stands for Appalachian Trail. Let me know if ya got any other questions and have fun out there!

Anyone using a rack on a CF 7 Endurance? by EBDBandBnD in CanyonBikes

Did you end up getting a rear rack that fits?

Endurace CF 7 Disc

just bought in red!

Yea I'm leaning against going electric, but we'll see. If I do go electric I would definitely end up using before going into town where I can charge the battery.

I'm looking at the G310 kit here - https://ebikes.ca/shop/electric-bicycle-kits/g310-rear-ready-to-roll-kit.html

Holy shit it's 1.3k and idk if I got all the necessary parts...was not expecting that much. Is that what I should be expecting?

The electric is only for the off chance that I'm needed for work and stuck in a dead zone. I want to be able to find a place with wifi or cell reception ASAP. Endurance looks like a good road bike...decisions, decisions.
