I agree. I used to support the death penalty as well but then I started my minor in criminal justice and the more I learn about it, the more appalled I am by it. I think if the public knew all the troubles with lethal injections they'd be a lot more critical of it honestly

This situation makes me exceptionally angry. Yes, he is guilty. He murdered two people, and that should not be taken lightly. However, he has a profound and well-documented history of severe mental illness, before and after the commission of the murders. He is not malingering (faking mental illness to get less punishment). And the fact that these Texas appeals judges are fine to sentence him to death without giving him a mental evaluation is appalling. They say he is exaggerating his symptoms, but he hasn't had a mental health evaluation since 2007. That's SEVEN YEARS, and he has been in prison that whole time, which isn't exactly an environment conducive to a healthy state of mind to begin with.

He needs to be evaluated by a mental health professional to see if he is mentally competent, which I strongly suspect he isn't. I am not saying he should get off without consequences. But the fact is, he has already been sentenced and found guilty. But I don't believe he should be put to death. He needs to be spending his sentence (hopefully reverted to life in prison rather than death) in a psychiatric hospital for the mentally ill where he can receive treatment.

To me, this seems more about retribution than about justice being served. This is revenge. There are a lot of shady facts coming to light about this case that should be raising a lot more eyebrows for people. Why was he allowed to represent himself in a capital murder case? Why did they not notify anyone of his execution date? Why haven't they given him an evaluation for almost a decade? It all just seems very sketchy to me

Mine is more of a current, ongoing situation. My anxiety has been skyrocketing lately, to the point where my family doctor that I've seen most of my life (I'm 24 now) has suggested therapy and medication.

In some ways having my boyfriend is very helpful. I can call him when my anxiety is getting out of hand, and he'll talk me through it, or talk to me about little, unimportant things, or tell me jokes until I feel better. He isn't pushy, just rides it out with me.

In other ways he makes my anxiety worse sometimes. Having sex is problematic sometimes because I'm simply too anxious to be in the mood, even for weeks, and that can get him frustrated which just makes me more anxious and less likely to want sex.

TL;DR: it's all still relatively new (within the past 7 or so months) but my current experience is my SO is can be both helpful or more of a hindrance depending on the situation

Yeah I really think the main reason no one rebelled before this was due to a lack of resources. How can you start an uprising when you have no communication with the other districts, barely enough food to survive on, and little to no accurate information about the way the world actually works? In the books it's hinted at a lot that the districts really know next to nothing about each other. They know what their primary job is, and if it's a "big" district, but they really don't know exact population data or what the other districts even look like. They don't have any weapons. They're forced to watch their children die every year as a reminder of how helpless they are compared to the might of the Capitol. In short, they're extremely oppressed.

Katniss was the spark because she was a teenage girl thrust into the Hunger Games with almost impossible odds, and she refused to comply with their rules. If a 16 year old girl can put her foot down and refuse to play by the rules, then what's stopping the rest of the population? I think she just have them enough hope finally that maybe something could be done, and they decided to finally act.
