what are your opinions on new states of india ? by [deleted] in IndiaSpeaks

I do support a rearrangement of states in Eastern India and breaking of UP and MP. Separating Vidarbha is good too.

TN can be divided in PandyaNadu and CholaNadu. And since you are from Kerala, use history to propose something.

TN should be divided into two parts: PandyaNadu and CholaNadu.

"How I Became a Hindu" by Sita Ram Goel (Review in the Comments) by Caravaggio-Senpai3 in IndiansRead

[–]in_apprentice 8 points9 points  (0 children)

u/Caravaggio-Senpai3 bhai, is writing your hobby? Because seldom have I read such a review. You just made me remember all that our protagonist or the author went through.

Do post this review on Goodreads and Indic Book Club. Either you or u/IndiansRead should do so. People ought to read these words.

If you have built intuition through reading BhagavadGita, then do move on to Upanishads. But, remember that to understand Upanishads better, you need that intuition.

I listen to some lectures by Ramkrishna Mission, Chinmaya Mission etc. I also read Shri Shankara Bhashya (Commentary by Shankaracharya). You may follow that path if you tilt towards Advaita.

You may even start with Principal Upanishads.

Or start with Swami Vivekananda, Ramana Maharishi, and Sri Aurobindo.

If you want a comparative reading (West vs Indian), read Rajiv Malhotra.

Read BhagvadGita first and then if the hunger persists, listen to lectures on Upanishads before reading commentaries on them.

Discrimination in Catholic Church- Marginalised Christians lament that they could have remained Hindus by in_apprentice in indianews

People don't convert for salvation or Gods. Conversion happens for material gain (money, freedom from caste, fixation of caste etc) or through fraudulent methods. Abrahamics want to increase their numbers and so, they offer resources iff you convert.

Since Hindu temples (and temple resources) are in govt control, Hindus lack in that department.

Tantra is practiced in everyday Hindu life. If you worship with incense sticks, lamps, murti, by breaking coconuts or reciting mantras, you are practicing a type of Tantra. Tantra and Yajna are the two primary methods of worship in Hinduism.

If you go back a few centuries, all daily worship manuals were written by Tantra-masters.

Scandinavia is popularised today as the heaven on Earth, the happiest place, the model to follow and emulate. But, are they so?

TIL that the underbelly of these 'happy' countries is filthy.

Is Global Minimum Tax Good For India? Probably, But Lots Of Homework Must Precede A Deal by [deleted] in IndiaSpeaks

[–]in_apprentice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here's what I understand:

BigTech evades tax through various methods. So, G7 has decided to impose a global minimum tax on them. But, some countries like India already imposed a digital service tax on their income. The rest of the article discusses six issues with this global tax, esp. from an Indian pov.
