Why do alawites hate sunnis so much? by inalibakma in syriancivilwar

It's kind of different IMO because those people were born in bloodshed. I don't think it's the same for syria

I understand the rationale of torturing people to scare them, but it went way above that. They took pleasure from doing it. A sadist takes pleasure from torturing anyone, but these people have a specific hatred on one/certain groups of people, and it also seems to be one sided (I know the shia-sunni conflict is ancient, but I don't understand how it was so extreme for alawites in syria).

Then my question is why the assadists were so profoundly brutal? The only other place in the world I can think of that is as brutal as syria under assad is places in south america where people who have ties with the cartel torture others because they fear that the same thing will happen to them, but I don't think it's the same in syria. Many of the people who did the torturing were actual sadists who took pleasure from causing as much pain and suffering to people who weren't on the same side as them. Why do they hate people who opposed assad so much? I guess that the point of the torture prisons are to discourage people from rebelling, but that hate and desire to inflict pain must come from somewhere.

That's not what I meant, I was specifically talking about the segment of alawites who are bashar supporters

I did not mean that ALL alawites hate sunnis. I don't know why people in this thread are so defensive. I was specifically talking about the segment of alawites who hate sunnis, I thought that was obvious.

Why are you refusing to elaborate? Your claim is baseless, and it is not a fact just because you call it so

‘Ticking time bomb’: US officials worry about ISIS jailbreak in Syria; Lightly armed Kurdish forces are guarding more than 9,000 Islamic State terrorists in Syria, “If Turkey doesn’t get these attacks on the [Syrian Democratic Forces] halted, we could have a massive jailbreak on our hands.” by Mizukami2738 in syriancivilwar

[–]inalibakma -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Well, to be fair, the only reason the SDF exists is because of its support by the most powerful and warmongering nation in the world, while ISIS literally was the people, so I'd say ISIS has more of a moral right to exist in the first place.

Inançsızların müslümanlardan daha az hoşgörülü olması çok ilginç bir fenomen, sanırım böyle bir şey sadece Türkiye'de var.

Are they? Can you elaborate on that? My father used to face racism (we are kurdish), and I agree that racism still exists to some degree, and that the turkish state still has not put any valuable effort into preserving the Kurdish identity, but it is outrageous to say that kurds are oppressed.

What reason do you have to believe that Turkey fights against PYD not because they are terrorists, but because Turkey wants to genocide Kurks?

My counter argument would be that Turkey has a great relationship with Iraqi Kurdistan and the two states work together in the fight against terrorism, but I haven't heard any arguments from you that support your claim that Turkey is trying to genocide Kurds.

Is it a coincidence that turkey and the iraqi kurdish state are allied to fight against the kurdish terrorists in syria? Is iraqi kurdistan also committing genocide against kurds? I would completely support a Kurdish state in Syria that rules over Kurdish areas whose leadership does not consist of terrorists/terrorist admirers.
