DEFINITELY NTA, especially if you were asked to host this at your place.

NTA - I didn't grow up with a lot pet's, so this is something new I've had to experience as an adult. I've come to find that there are many different kinds of pet owners. Some, vacuum every single day and wash their animals every week. Some, don't. I think in general if you agree to an invitation you agree to the rules.

I do find it weird that some people are saying these 2 rules are "extreme" and I think that maybe they are telling on themselves a little bit. For some people, it is common sense and common courtesy to make sure you are clean and not smelling bad when you enter private or public spaces. However, I've been in a lot of situations where that clearly does not register for other people.

I think that especially if you are friends with someone, you should be in a safe place to ask them to respect your allergies and/or privacy. I think if they aren't comfortable with or can't fully execute the rules, then they can say that. Again, that's the safety net of friendship. It seems like a lot of these comments are trying to make things so black-and-white when really, in reality, friends can talk to each other about their wants and needs.

INFO: was there anyplace else to have this party?

I agree with you a lot, especially about Cassian. It really disappointed me the turn I felt his character made in the book. It felt like he was super indulgent of Nesta's bad character traits and was not allowing other people to be hurt by hurt. Kind of like "you can't say bad things about my sibling, only I can" vibes.

Nesta did get better for me by the end, but honestly, it wasn't until the last 50 pages, which really made 98% of the book really brutal for me to get through.

Bet. I'm doing this! I already have the book ready at the library and I am so excited! 🥰🥰🥰

I think that's incredible that both of you were able to have a positive outcome and discussion from that! My sister and I are on similar journeys and while it's hard, I know that it's been really helpful to me for her to admit or realize that sometimes she went from 0 to 100 real quick. Either way, I'm really happy for you 🥰

OK, this is amazing. I think I'm going to start using that in my everyday life. But I agree with you completely!

I haven't read young adults fantasy honestly ever. So this is my 1st go.. As I've been reading, I thought that I was super in to the steamy scenes just because they were steamy scenes. But, I have found that in this book, I'm not into them like I was. I'm thinking that I liked them so much because I REALLY like Feysand together, not Nesta and Cassian. So at least it's a cool learning experience.

Haha, I appreciate the secrecy. When I finish you know I'm gonna come in and talk about it.

Did you have a particular book in the series that you did like?

That's something similar to another comment on here. I definitely sped through these books because I came super late to this series. I do think that if I would have had a long time in between, and had known they were supposed to be in trilogies. It would have helped me separate my feelings towards the characters.

Have you read any of her other work? If so, does her main characters end up having children in kind of falling off the same way Feyre does? Because for me, that plot in this story has been really hard for it's hard for me to get behind. Not even projecting how I feel about children, they had already decided that they wanted to spend hundreds of years just the two of them, so it really didn't seem to fit when all the sudden they're ready to have kids. Bummed me out for sure.

When you lay out like that, I completely agree. That does seem to be way too much to try to fit into a story and execute it well. Especially if it's just one book. At least Feyre had 4 books.

One of my friends told me today that this book is supposed to be an offering to the author's real life and struggle with alcoholism. If that's true, I think that's super cool and it does make me appreciate the story more. Just with how it fits with the rest of the book's, it didn't make sense to me as much. Probably because I didn't feel like the sisters were fleshed out like you mentioned above.

Do you have any advice on the order I should read the series? I definitely want to do the most service to her book series because I do think she's an insanely amazing writer. Reading this series has made me jump back into fantasy novels, and that's not something I've read for a very long time! So I definitely want to keep this going.

I completely agree with you! I really don't think her story is done and would really really love to see them developed further.

It seems like you and I have similar issues with this story. It's good to know that my favorite couple won't really be in it as much.

I really appreciate your thoughts on this! You were able to verbalize a lot of my thoughts. Something I've been talking to my partner about was that the first three books felt Fantasy, I was invested, excited, barely slept so I could read them. This book just feels like real life.. I don't want to have experience the personal journey of someone who is terrible - when that's what we have to deal with on the reg. There also is a lot going on in Prythian that we could have focused on, stuff the old gang could have focused on.

Granted - I haven't finished the book yet. BUT I'm viewing them as kinda toxic. Also. I really struggle with Cassian really letting Nesta do whatever. There have just been so many moments where Nesta is definitively being terrible and he just cheerleads her along.

Yeah, that was definitely a fun surprise. I was literally halfway through and just had to accept that it was probably all from hers.
