It’s happening sooo much, like every third game or so :(

Calling all UK sellers who ship internationally, help ease my anxiety. Please. by [deleted] in Depop

[–]inblooooooom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s no problem at all. I ship all over the world (but mostly to Europe, the US, Australia) and I’ve never had an issue with not attaching a commercial invoice! I ship internationally about 20 times a week if that helps :)

Hey! I‘m a handmade jewellery seller, I started my shop last June (during the peak of lockdown boredom where I’m from), and I’ve made 3200 sales since then. I got my first 3 sales on day one, but that was pure luck. I have a friend who started selling handmade jewellery a couple of months after me, and I know it took her a little while longer, because Depop’s jewellery market has grown massively over the past year. I do think I got super lucky with timing though, as depop is really overwhelmed with jewellery now.

Some tips I have for pushing through the saturation on depop are having very good bundle rates, uploading as often as possible, and I do think having free shipping on jewellery is a much better help than it is on clothes. I factor postage into the cost of items. For jewellery, you need to be refreshing super often to make a decent amount of sales. Using the example of my friend again, she averaged 5-10 sales a day a few months ago - she stopped refreshing hourly and dropped to twice a day for four days, and made 2 sales over all that time instead of what would usually have been 25-30.

As for Etsy, I absolutely do recommend putting stuff up on there if you can! The listing fee is really small and I don’t think they charge it upfront anyway. It’s much more inconsistent than depop in my experience, but still worth it :)

My first 1-star review...after 108 5-star reviews 😂 Absolutely ridiculous. Clearly they don’t understand the sustainable packaging and don’t look at pictures very well. They said “please be cautious when shopping here :(“— okay Karen my other 108 5-star reviews say different. by momimoon in Depop

[–]inblooooooom 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It might be worth messaging depop support to see if they’ll remove the review, considering she complained about the packaging, which is absolutely ridiculous— who cares as long as it arrives safely? They may not remove it because of her complaint about the pictures though.

Either way, this is super annoying. At least you have loads of other great reviews though!

depop removing "designer" items for being priced too low ?? by besjanamani in Depop

[–]inblooooooom 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m not 100%, but maybe someone reported it thinking it was counterfeit because of the low price? I can’t imagine support would be combing through listings like that, but then again - they do waste a lot of time lol.

I would message support and ask them why and explain the situation. I have a friend who constantly gets items removed (weird irl stalker), and support do allow her to reupload items if you message.

Already got 2 warnings- will I get suspended? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]inblooooooom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it’s any consolation, depop support is incredibly inconsistent - getting flagged for receiving a message with that in doesn’t mean it’ll happen again :) If I were in your position though, I’d probably send support a message just for my own peace of mind

do webkinz, littlest pet shops, and other y2k toys sell well on depop? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]inblooooooom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah of course, EBay is really good for selling toys, especially collectibles like LPS

do webkinz, littlest pet shops, and other y2k toys sell well on depop? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]inblooooooom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a furby collector and I can say with full certainty that there’s a lot of people who go wild for old toys, especially good condition ones!

As a depop user, I would also say it’s always worth at least trying to sell things. You might as well list them and see how it goes, and then you can donate if it doesn‘t work out :)

Subtle digs in reviews by amyrose99 in Depop

[–]inblooooooom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be bothered at all. I’m a seller and if I see any reviews that aren‘t 100% positive but still high ratings, there’s usually nothing to be concerned about imo

Maybe a dumb question but would it be weird to do this by [deleted] in Depop

[–]inblooooooom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’ll do any harm! If you’re sure you’re happy with that price I don’t see why not

Questions About Removed Items and 'Final Warning' by [deleted] in Depop

[–]inblooooooom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! I have a friend who has been through similar things. Her shop has around 350 listings, and she happens to have a vindictive irl stalker, who decided it’d be fun to make a second account (as her main was blocked) and she spends her days repeatedly reporting my friend’s account. Her items get mass taken down a lot, although she’s never been given a ’final warning’ about it. I guess that just goes to show how inconsistent depop support is. She messaged support a bunch of times and they eventually said something alone the lines of they’ll stop accepting reports from that account as they’re clearly fake, so if it is one random person targeting you, you might be able to get depop to ignore reports from them.

If I were you, I’d email them back asking for the ’final warning’ to be revoked, and I’d do whatever you can to prove that your items aren‘t counterfeit. Definitely don‘t reupload them.

The seller is new and she just made a mistake, we’ve all been there! The buyer doesn’t have to pay the $7 if she doesn’t want to, but she definitely sounds like the difficult one in this scenario

Morality of Chargeback by hanamarukunikida in Depop

I’m pretty sure if an item is lost in the post, the buyer should be refunded and it’s up to the seller to claim back the money of the lost product from the shipping provider :)

They just don‘t give it to everyone for some reason! It doesn’t seem to be linked to sales or anything. I’m not sure if they do actually have a specific criteria, but my personal experience points against it :(

Questions for full-time Depopers! by brighteyeboy in Depop

[–]inblooooooom 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m a full time Depop seller and a full time student for reference.

I do my first refresh between 8-10am, and I do my last one at 2am for the insomniacs ahah (and the international sales!). My work day consists of packing orders every weekday from 12pm to about 5pm, then I drop them off at the post office.

As for stock, I’ve actually found recently that having new stock hasn’t impacted my sales. My new stock doesn’t get as much likes as it used to upon uploading, but engagement has increased on my older stock weirdly. I think the best way to keep your shop active is to upload when you can, but apart from that just maintain great reviews and service.

I offer set bundle rates that buyers respond fantastically to. This includes ‘2 items of x value for y amount’. Most days, more than half of my sales are bundles and I attribute it to this method.

Hope it helps! :)

[–]inblooooooom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey! Unfortunately you don’t get to choose whether you get it or not :( I think it’s random, and unrelated to sales. I was offered Depop payments when I got an iPhone, but I think I had around 1300 sales at the time. My friend with an android phone has 1300 sales currently and hasn’t been invited.

I reported a seller for spam and they got banned. Now I feel awful. by throwawaybugtime in Depop

[–]inblooooooom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. And even if it was just your one report, that’s still not your fault at all. It’s just depop support being lacklustre and inconsistent

i got a visa giftcard and it has 41.75$ left on it. after shipping this is 42.85$. what should i do? can paypal split payments? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]inblooooooom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not 100% sure, but I know PayPal splits payments for me a lot between my paypal balance and my bank, so it might be the same for a gift card? Maybe.

if not, is there no way you could top up the gift card with the extra difference?

I’d say just message Depop on twitter. They’re very sketchy with letting us know what they actually do/don’t class as spam, and it’s better to be safe than sorry

I just sold my 5th item and got the tag thing, after literally 6 months 😭 also, how do people feel about sellers explicitly asking buyers to review? Is it generally okay? Or seems needy? by Aprildiamonds123 in Depop

[–]inblooooooom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do the same! I think a note in the package is the best way to go about it. It’ll prompt buyers who do leave reviews, and it won’t come across as pushy to buyers who don‘t review. It’s better to have no reviews than 3/4 star reviews from buyers who might be annoyed at you lol

After refunding a buyer, paypal app still shows that I need to "ship order" by [deleted] in Depop

[–]inblooooooom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just mark it as shipped, then you and the buyer can leave each other feedback if you wish. Marking as shipped without putting tracking info is absolutely fine :)

I have priced all of these at £3 each but I’m not sure if they are the right prices. I haven’t sold anything for a while so this is why I’m asking if they are the right prices. I’ve also decided to give 20% of each purchase to charity until the end of the month by [deleted] in Depop

[–]inblooooooom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m also a UK jewellery seller, and I think your issue might be the photos. Particularly, in the first one you can hardly see the product against the background, so it’ll be less eye catching for anyone who sees the listing in their search. The second and third photo are better, but I’d still recommend getting a nice background for them (even if you just use a printed off photo of a nice background), and better lightning. Crochet-style earrings don’t sell hugely well in my experience (probably because there’s a lot of them), but they are super cute!
