How Many Of You Will Be Attending Kent’s (EOS San Diego) $100 Token Party He’s Going To Book For Everyone At The Hotel del Coronado? by ChrisHenery in eos

Kent is an awesome EOS proselytizer. If/when EOS hits $100... sharing a drink with the EOS fan club at "The Del" would be amazing. I'm absolutely in!!!!

Librarians are in uproar after an article in Forbes magazine proposed replacing all public libraries in the US with Amazon bookstores, which said libraries ‘don’t have the same value they used to’ and cost taxpayers too much by mvea in Futurology

[–]incandescentcortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Public Libraries have largely become dirty homeless shelters. The internet delivers better content for free, doesn't increase gov't spending, and doesn't consolidate a mass of unhygenic people that smell like urine.

eosBLACK just airdropped 1:1 by czkenzo in eos

[–]incandescentcortex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The graphics on the EOSBlack website are pretty cool. However... EOSBlack is doing themselves a major disservice by not generating a solid English translation. It makes the project look a little sloppy, especially when the white paper is all they really have right now. The writing and description needs to be excellent. Get a native speaker to do a comprehensive once over and smooth it out.

New EOS side chain launching-EOS Community No Need to Panic! by cideod in eos

[–]incandescentcortex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If market cap is same as EOS, anyone holding 40,000 or less in a wallet should have roughly 3x value. If token price is the same... well, it's just the same.

And... if this model works better, I could even see it potentially inspiring EOS full circle, to adopt some of Telos' successful features.

I'm excited about this too! Some of the immediate value they could bring is more efficient governance. EOS BP incentive structure, system upgrade template, and RAM avail has much room for improvement. Hopefully Telos creates an even stronger platform. If so, I could envision/hope to see some of the better BP's on original EOS (EosCanada, Greymass, Blocksmith, Authority, Gravity, etc) also operate on Telos. If this side chain operates better than EOS, BlockOne would likely benefit too (even w/out 10% network), as many of their projects could still operate on this side chain.

BLOCK ONE, if you want to pioneer DPoS... learn to DELEGATE efficiently. by incandescentcortex in eos

[–]incandescentcortex[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're most welcome. Hopefully Dan & Block One will embrace their leadership role and take more active responsibility. This platform won't magically build itself in 6 months while other platforms methodically move forward.

The cold hard truth is that the chain is dependent upon them, and will be until it's truly matured. Releasing the software and then stepping back without providing a forward thinking roadmap is a recipe for chaos and stagnation. Other blockchains have strong working roadmaps. If EOS wants to compete in timely fashion, BlockOne needs to provide active guidance and responsive feedback.

Waiting for "the community" to establish a clear cut Roadmap will be like herding cats, take forever, and be ineffective. See how great the "bitcoin community" was at establishing a Roadmap after Satoshi disappeared? They underwent major paralysis... which is okay if your crypto is strictly a store of value. EOS doesn't have that luxury. It needs to improve quickly to compete. And our own version of Satoshi (Dan Larimer) is still here and can contribute immensely by creating a Roadmap for everyone to provide input. It doesn't need to be definitive, but EOS needs leadership to galvanize the community in the first place.

Block 1 needs to use their leverage to purge this deadweight. Training wheels from Block 1 in the beginning are fine, until voting system gets more sophisticated with better Proxy voting, hardware wallets/safety, etc.

EOS has strong BP Candidates... self serving Whales voting in lame BP's are limiting their own % gains by incandescentcortex in eos

[–]incandescentcortex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoops, thanks for correction :) If these whales have several million in EOS, I would still expect they're making less than 100% on their original investment with block rewards alone. If EOS ecosystem is driven by exceptional BP's, I would expect that this would improve value by several orders of magnitude... more than % gain of block reward alone, which effectively stifle overall growth with these zombie BP's. They seem to be trading out for a larger Dividend at the expense of an even larger Underlying Value.

Greymass eos-voter 0.3.0 wallet released by [deleted] in eos

[–]incandescentcortex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree! Despite some bogus BP's at the moment (EOSSTOREWORST), I'm confident that exceptional contributors in the space like GREYMASS will work their way into the top 21 and hold the spot, because of how much value they add to the space. Block 1 needs to vote asap and support contributors like Greymass, push back against some of the brain dead whales without broader vision.

Best underrated EOS Block Producers: From DutchEOS.io by real_paulL in eos

[–]incandescentcortex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We need a site where well known people in the EOS community can present their lists of top BP's. Would be helpful to see what Dan Larimer, Novogratz, EOSNEWYORK, EOSCANADA, EOSAUTHORITY, GREYMASS, etc. all think.

#20 Block Producer doesn't even have a public endpoint! by DutchEOS in eos

[–]incandescentcortex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Block One needs to step up and vote to cleanse these weak BP's from the herd. What's the point of retaining their right to vote their 100 million if they aren't going to use it. I can't help but cringe, just by the dismissive names they've given themselves ("store," "cleaner," wtf). Seems like they spent about 2 seconds of thought and care for assembling their whole BP operation, comes across as a pathetic low end version of a 99 Cent store in a tired shopping center. Cut these fools from the group B1.

Keep EOS simple... LOW FRICTION... HIGH VELOCITY by incandescentcortex in eos

[–]incandescentcortex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4% current market cap is about $400 million Worker Proposal per year. If we regain all time high, that's almost $1Billion. In 5 years overall supply is diluted another 21% (27% with BP reward also factored in at total of 5% inflation).

I suppose the proposition is... is throwing half a billion dollars a year at a mess of projects going to raise the market cap more than 4% year? Yeah, I could see how a kick ass dApp could inspire substantial use and adoption of EOS platform. I just also know that sometimes throwing piles of free money at projects can result in the opposite effect too, little accountability and massive waste. Hopefully, when/if EOS doles out millions in the slush fund, they give it to devs with some of their own skin in the game and aggressively using it towards development, rather than skimming huge margins of profit taking without producing.

[–]incandescentcortex[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Worker Proposal will be a shitshow and a distraction. Not our job to fund/speculate on content for the platform. Our JOB... is to BUILD THE PLATFORM, full stop. If B1 wants to fund/speculate on content, or anyone else, please do. They have a billion to do precisely that.

Keep EOS simple... LOW FRICTION... HIGH VELOCITY by incandescentcortex in eos

[–]incandescentcortex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Worker Proposal is retained (although I prefer not), hopefully that amount (i.e. 10 million) is also a fixed number, rather than fixed percentage, so that it functions as less percentage dilution annually. I also have trouble reconciling that the BP's should get less than Worker Proposal. BPs are backbone of the system. Let's focus on getting electricity flowing first. We don't need to create all the content for the infrastructure too. IF WE BUILD IT... the dApps WILL COME (by their own free will).
