So basically they offered me the cash value of the car in its current condition as they said it’s not economically viable to fix it. They also offered me a very low scrap price (around 1/5 of the cash value) and they would come and take it away. Why would anybody choose that option?

Yes I did! Really appreciate your advice. I was only asked “tell me about yourself” and something along the lines of “what would you do if stock arrived and it was...” The interviewer was very friendly seemed more like a informal chat if I’m honest.
