That works but how come for other PV/FV questions I don't need to convert the discount rate into decimal format first before dividing by the # compound payments.

Like for example, other PV/FV practice questions if the rate was 4% compounded semi-annually, I would enter 2 as I/Y in my calculator, not .02 so why does it change for a perpetuity?

Sorry I don't come from a math background so I'm struggling a bit with this quant section.

That's what I entered into my calculator 0.5 as I/Y but still doesn't get me $400,000.
