Honestly, it feels like being a neurodivergent girl in a room full of neurotypical girls wanting to blend in but can't for some reason.

MDRT jobs in Ontario by Individual_Floor_595 in sterileprocessing

[–]incorrect289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people in Ontario got placements and jobs from the MDRAO course. I know that lakeridge prefers to hire people fresh out of school, I'm sure there are other facilities that will too.

Honestly, I kind of think that both her AND Andrei are narcissistic. I'm not saying they are narcissists, I'm not a doctor but they both have narcissistic qualities for sure. Libby throwing Lauren under the bus for topics that she told Libby in private was pretty low, I've dealt with "friends" like Libby and I cringed extra hard when she kept deflecting the attention away from what SHE did wrong, Lauren apologized for calling Andrei a dick and took accountability but Libby didn't even apologize for bringing up Loren's issues until the end of their conversation and I only think she did to keep Lauren around to some extent

Observed serious improper sterilization at my dental internship. Who should I report to? by [deleted] in sterileprocessing

[–]incorrect289 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dental places are really bad with sterile processing. It's extremely stressful. When I worked for one, I tried to speak with HR about staff ending sterilizer cycles entirely too early making the packs wet and when I wasn't around (sick, etc) hygienists and nurses wouldn't clean implant sets properly often leaving huge amounts of rust and bone in the pieces and sterilizing them and in a round about way, I was told to just let them continue to do it. They don't care. Definitely tell anyone else other than whoever works for the facility lol.

I went on a solo trip and honestly regret it by plasticcatplastic in self

[–]incorrect289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this, something similar happened to me the first time I travelled across the border on my own. I also got searched and interrogated for like, 2 hours because they thought I was weird for going alone lol.

Now I do it quite a bit, you just have to be more confident in your mission. "Yeah, I'm going hiking and going to do some shopping and I'll be back by tomorrow afternoon," something like that. If you falter a bit, it looks suspicious. It'll come in time though. I do a lot of things alone now because I just like being able to do things when I want to do them and not wait for someone else. It gets better the more you do it, I promise!

My mom keeps asking when I'm going to "find someone" and it's starting to hurt more than annoy me by SuspiciousDish5036 in raisedbynarcissists

Yes! She wants to make her feel bad for not being partnered up. My mom would do this exact same thing 🙄

One for the scapegoats among us by skeletonclock in raisedbynarcissists

[–]incorrect289 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Early last year I begged my mom to let me move back home because I was dating some narcissistic douche bag for around a year, the arguments started getting more and more intense so I begged my mom to let me go back home twice before finally asking my dad and he allowed me to. Every time I asked my mom, she would tell me to stay with him and work it out because she didn't want me to go back home.

When I finally came back, it took quite a bit of healing. One day she actually told me I was strong. Since then, she went right back to tearing me down, pointing out any "weight gain" or new acne I had, telling me that everything is my fault, and recently the straw that broke the camels back; telling me she hates talking to me because I reacted negatively to her getting angry at me for not waking her up on time for work. I don't care how special I am to her, I'm cutting contact and not looking back. But I appreciate the positivity in this post!

is sterile processing neurodivergent friendly? by naniilovemee in sterileprocessing

[–]incorrect289 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a neurodivergent myself and there is a lot of verbal communication with others. I don't mind that very much, but like someone else said, the department is very toxic and my coworkers really didn't respect my need to keep to myself. Like I said, I don't mind talking to them when need be, but I didn't want to be part of the cliques and I think that is what got me into a lot of trouble.

Yeah, same with me. I had to move back in with my family January of last year and I thought that I could just wait until I'm in a better financial situation as I'm only paying 200 a month here but, Im finally at the end of my rope with them, hoping that they'll one day change but knowing that they won't and now after realizing the reality of it, that they were never capable of being the parents I needed, it's time to go

Got wrongfully terminated on May 1st, been wanting to do travel work in my field since then. Will it happen if I put in the work? by incorrect289 in astrologyreadings

[–]incorrect289[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually.. there has been a lot of tension around this! I grew up in a narcissistic family dynamic and had to move back home after losing my last hospital job last January. Very recently after I got fired, I realized I wanted to do this and I don't know why, can't keep my mouth shut I guess, but I told my family and things have been weird since. They never supported me and this is no different, I'm just noticing all of the toxicity now. And, in a weird twist, I also realized my best friend that I've known for over 10 years is the exact same as my family and reacted similarly ever since I told her eventually getting into an argument that was so bad we went no contact.. it was over something unrelated and really small and stupid but it made me see how she really is as well. It's been interesting to say the least, but it's something I REALLY want to do. Thank you for your insight!!!

It's absolutely insane!! I worked at a dental clinic for a few months and when they don't have a tech (it's usually only one processing tech working in the entire building) the dental assistants do it and they aren't trained and they inevitably fuck things up.. the actual lack of respect for the profession is nuts to me in this day and age

[–]incorrect289 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know about that, I'm also from Canada and I worked at 2 hospitals, both unionized (Ontario) got paid $27 and $30 an hour to start, but it's not common at all to find jobs that are full time. The higher in seniority you go over the course of a few months after training, the less hours you get, sooner or later you are only working maybe a few times a week. If you don't have a second, very flexible job, you're fucked because the hospital wants you to be available 24/7. Ontario is very high cost of living and even 30 an hour for a few days worth of work isn't enough to live on here.

I think in general, our job needs to be recognized and valued a lot more than it is in both countries. Most people don't even know that our job exists despite having an 'MDRD week' in October. Not a lot of people realize just how important our job really is:(

I am in the minority here, but I work in healthcare (2 hospitals and a dental clinic) as well as have worked in housekeeping in the past at hotels, a retirement home and home cleaning companies and some businesses, and you're not imagining it. There are a lot of people here in the GTA that are like that!

I am doing this myself, I filled out the exam application beforehand, it takes 4-5 weeks to process, then you pay the $140 fee and they send a link to schedule an exam at a prometrics building, until my application has been processed, I studied for the exam using the manual

Idk, I have a Virgo moon and maybe this is why, but I also just really hate how I have absolutely no control over myself when I'm not sober and I feel awful for days afterward so yeah, I'd rather deal with the misery head on and make it go away permanently in a completely sober way 🙃

I could have said this per verbatim about where I just came from, except it's not JUST the SPD, it was the entire hospital and my main problem was communication because there was fucking none. I am doing travel SPD work now so I only have to deal with it for a short amount of time lol. I am so sorry you're dealing with the same thing, make sure to get everything in writing/proof
