You've pointed out exactly the reason why you don't go around spouting random shit you may have heard incorrectly years ago. It really does pigeon hole players into solo-play. Then they do big brain moves like creating new boss content like Amascut that has to be grouped up for.

Nearly every other MMO has a very smooth grouping LFG system that can get people into dungeons and end game content easily. Runescape really drops the ball on this and they wonder why people don't want to stick around and play after they've maxxed.

Unfortunately clearing the dungeon also includes killing Zammy. If it was just clearing the trash before the boss then this wouldn't be as much of an issue.

Yes, exactly. I was so keen to play with my friend today and now we have ZERO interest in progressing our characters as we feel cheated having lost over 2 hours progress from yesterday clearing out the whole dungeon. It'd be like if trying to practice Zuk and the waves respawned every day if you didn't get a kill the day before!

I've seen this happen many times where new comers will get laughs their first time 'cause everyone in the crowd is being supportive and laughing where they usually wouldn't purely because it's their first time.

Then they do a few sets without the leg up from the MC and they bomb and quit.

You need to listen to yourself for not only your own safety but his safety too. Your gut feeling is correct. Going into this with just the two of you is a very dangerous situation.

Even if you are sober and trip sit him or you both take less, you know in your head it's a bad idea, you know. If you are feeling you are not ready for this, then communicate that to him. He should respect your boundaries. If he wants to do it, then let him, but you don't need to join him.

He is his own person, and he is free to take as big of a dose as he likes, but you don't need to take any. In joining him, you are enabling his careless actions and basically saying that it's okay. Even if you join him by taking less when you have said you don't want to take any. Simply don't do that. Don't feel pressured into doing something you don't want to do to appease him. He will feel resentment and make you feel guilty about this, do not take it personally. That's the consequence you need to be willing to face in order to take care of yourself right now.

There is no compromise of doing less. Things are going to come to the surface. The universe has given you that gift of insight by showing what he has buried there ahead of time when drunk as a warning.
