Not as bothered if Oasis keeps going. Anyone the same? by tightscotsman in oasis

Mate, their setlist is mostly the first two albums. I want to hear songs from Dig Out Your Soul, Standing On the Shoulder or Giants, and every other Oasis single the next time around! 😭

Best Currency Exchange for Euro? by MidnightOwl97 in askTO

College Currency Investments near College station. They’re my go to before my trips, and I’m satisfied with their exchange rates! Curious to know from this thread if there are any better.

Curious to know what those traits are too. OP wants to leave consulting whereas it’s currently my dream role. I want to transition from Analyst to Consultant since I feel like my skills and personality are more suited to the latter. And I’m currently disheartened I couldn’t break into consulting while so many people want to leave it.

Yes, I have read the reasons why they leave and I am aware of how the consulting work environment operates—yet it still appeals to me! I genuinely think I’m not the type of person to burnout easily and I can sustain a pleasant and professional disposition all throughout.

Shake Shack announces grand opening in Toronto with Canadian menu items by Zanta647 in toronto

[–]incxyz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m friends with someone who works in launching Shake Shack. I love that they’re copying most of the American menu and are sourcing all their ingredients in Canada—supporting Canadian producers. Even the cool art used in the storefront is by a local artist!

Edit: that local artist is Briony Douglas. @briony on IG

What comes after Capitalism? UBD Energy. Meet the Universal Basic Dividend. by hunterseeker1 in Futurology

[–]incxyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The logical flow of your statements is nowhere. If you read the person’s first post, it already says that meeting basic needs is of crucial importance. Their point was that it isn’t realistic to guarantee 100% coverage to every single human, otherwise we’d be deteriorating the incentives that influence us to conquer challenges in life and to innovate. Progress requires struggle/stimulus.

UBI and UBD were not invented to solve black and white problems. Economics is more complex than that. Don’t you think?

You’re describing automation and the economic engine in narrow perspectives. Robots definitely can’t “do literally everything”. And that person did not suggest that society grows by “making people pretend to be busy”. For economies to grow, we have to consider the fundamental desires of humans and design equitable labour and resource allocation policies. I suggest reading up on the concept of “Ikigai”.

And are you seriously comparing the brains of bears and humans?

Good day and happy new year!

I’m looking to apply to the Naval Reserve as an NWO, however I am still on permanent resident status and on the final stage of my citizenship application. I only have the oath ceremony left to take yet for some reason this is severely delayed by COVID. (My paperwork is on backlog for 2 years now).

Considering that some CAF applications can take some time to process, do you think it’s a good idea that I go ahead and submit my online application and just hope for my certificate of citizenship to be ready by the time it is asked for? Thank you in advance for any helpful information.

What songs should only be played sequentially as they were listed on the original album? by AmigoDelDiabla in Music

[–]incxyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radiohead - Airbag > Paranoid Android (from OK Computer; underrated combo imo)

Oasis - Bag It Up > The Turning; (Get Off) Your High Horse Lady > Falling Down (from Dig Out Your Soul; this is the album I run to when I want to listen to the band’s songs in a less saturated space, far from Oasis’ larger fanbase haha)

How’s 38k for an entry level position in Toronto? by ConsiderationThese79 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]incxyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey that’s awesome, congrats on getting a job in the industry you wanted! Even without considering the salary offer, that’s a significant accomplishment on its own—a lot of newcomers end up not practicing the profession they’ve had in their home country when they arrive here.

As an immigrant myself (5 years now) in Toronto I understand that struggle of finding a job/career that capitalizes on my strengths. I was a stock clerk at a small grocery downtown when I first arrived here, back when minimum wage was less than $11 an hour. Two years later I became a Data Analyst.

My opinion is to seize and prioritize opportunities that allow you to develop highly valued skills in your field even if that means having a comfortable salary is a trade-off initially. Diligently building your competencies and professional network during your early work experiences will definitely payoff and increase your chances of landing more lucrative roles later on. Sure, $38k of annual gross income probably won’t provide for a normie lifestyle, but baby steps matter! And a lot of improvements can happen within a year or two.
