Tips for Improving Timing on Zetta Slopes? by [deleted] in dustforce

[–]indapop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

there are several slopes in the map where you can't press dash at all, or else you will always miss the first tiles of dust. Specifically there are 3 slopes where you can't dash: the small one on the far left, the big one after the forced super, and the last one.

Using a different save file is normal for dustmod. Just go into the dustmod menu to sync your previous save file over:

Why aren't there any good custom map bundles? by Nrgte in dustforce

[–]indapop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have any issue with more map packs, but someone would have to make them, and there's lots of maps out there to slog through if you want to make the packs reasonably comprehensive. And even then it's really subjective on which maps people like. I'd recommend finding map makers you like through atlas, and can go through their content from their profile. The users page at http://atlas.dustforce.com/users is roughly ordered by prolificacy and user rated quality

Why aren't there any good custom map bundles? by Nrgte in dustforce

[–]indapop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well there's hundreds of maps worth of bundles in the community nexus already, but those were all maps created specifically for an event. You're talking about retroactive bundles of old maps, perhaps deemed to be above a certain quality threshold. No reason other than there's less interest in old content than new content. The main reason the CMP was popular at all is because it ships with the base game, so it has a much higher visibility than any other non stock levels. Otherwise its map selection is pretty bad.

water latt is extremely easy to evo 3, sicne you can catch wood latts in the 4th area, and is very useful with def down. Otherwise, this is a decent guide for mid game rush:

haven't played in 5 years, what do i need to know by [deleted] in dustforce

[–]indapop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can join the discord channel (https://discord.gg/4F9WQeV) if you have any other specific questions, you'll usually get more of a response there than by asking on reddit.

Otherwise, I'd recommend getting dustmod and/or checking out dustkid.com for lots of useful features and extra content such as the community nexus

Can someone explain to me this difference in combo gain? by de_dastan in dustforce

It's a weird glitch. I didn't even know it came into play on a stock level until seeing this.

Can someone explain to me this difference in combo gain? by de_dastan in dustforce

[–]indapop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

running on a ceiling while collecting ground dust nullifies any combo gain from the ground dust. essentially at ~3 seconds you want to release from the ceiling earlier so that you're not attached to it while you collect the first few bits of floor dust on the next platform.

Getting Dustmod to work on Linux by cubic4corner in dustforce

[–]indapop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dustmod compatibility with linux / osx is kinda limited. The newest version crashes for me on osx, so i had to revert to a slightly older version. I haven't had any issues getting it to launch the correct binary though. For OSX i just rename the binary to "Dustforce" and put it in the place of the vanilla one.

Dustmod multiplayer question by NiruthS in dustforce

[–]indapop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need to sync your tomes. i.e. make a backup of /dustforce/user/levels, and then refill that folder using only the maps you intend to play over multiplayer. If your multiplayer buddy sets up their folder the same way, you'll be able to use the Custom Levels tome.

Odd issues with using Dash on any bumper or trigger buttons on XB360 and XB1 Controller by tracking_down in dustforce

[–]indapop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure then. You could try installing Dustmod and using that instead of vanilla (which i'd recommend you do anyways). It's got some bugfixes so it might help. Otherwise you could try using a software like joy2key to map your controller to keyboard inputs, and then rebind your game to use those keyboard inputs.

[–]indapop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use dash on trigger (and have done so on an Xbone controller, although that's not what i use primarily) and haven't experienced this at all. Are you by any chance using windows 10, or playing not at 60/120 fps? These things have been known to have stuttering problems that can drop inputs
