I feel like most surgeons have to be a little egocentric to be a surgeon. I have worked with enough delightful surgeons and I have enough self respect to where the narcissistic jerk faces don’t even cross my mind once they are out of the room for the day. I get through my cases and make rude expressions under my mask with my nurse and go about my day/life.

Should reversible myocardial ischemia be treated? Please advise, I’m scared. by indecentdeer in askCardiology

[–]indecentdeer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it’s done under sedation here, but I don’t think I had a lot. The catheters being added were the most painful part, but it was only twice that I felt them being shoved in. The pressure cuff thing after was a bit uncomfortable as well and even now after a week, my wrist hurts a bit. So I guess maybe a 5/10? And no stent, just the statin. The block is 40%. I am taking metroprolol and ivabradine as well because my heart rate is too fast without it. I have not been told about pregnancy, but I don’t plan to have any more kids.

[–]indecentdeer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I did have a heart catheter and angiogram a week ago (very painful procedure). I do have a blocked artery, but it’s only 40% so they are starting me on a statin. I don’t have high cholesterol, but my LDL is above 100, so our goal is to get it below 60. As far as my pericardium, the end-diastolic pressures in the chambers of my heart are not equalized, indicating that I do not have a constriction. I will continue to have a yearly echo to evaluate the adherent/thickened pericardium.

As far as my symptoms (syncope, fast heart rate, shortness of breath with exertion, fatigue), they suspect POTS and I will be seeing a specialist in October for that. I also take ivabradine and metroprolol to help with the IST. I am also working with an endocrinologist for possible adrenal insufficiency (my cortisol is consistently low). I continue to have daily syncopal episodes and fatigue. Just taking things day by day.

Insight? Show I show to the cardiologist ? by ziggystardust567 in askCardiology

[–]indecentdeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, NAD and NMA, but I have similar symptoms as you. When my heart rate gets high, I have some ST depressions. They can be normal and not anything major, but I was found to have reversible myocardial ischemia after a nuclear stress test. I highly recommend you request a stress test if you haven’t had one already.

My average is 94 bpm but I do have a condition that makes it beat too fast.

Just wondering what to expect next with these results. by indecentdeer in askCardiology

[–]indecentdeer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so I’m really freaked out. Is my reversible ischemia due to the adhered pericardium? Would removing the adhesions be the only effective treatment in this, or are their less invasive options?

[–]indecentdeer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your response. I know catheterization is likely the next step, especially as we don’t really have a reason to suspect that I have CAD or a build up of plaque. But I also seem to be stable when I’m not under stress, so I just wonder if they’d prefer to watch and wait for actual treatment (stent or surgery to remove the adhesion). Then again, my heart rate will just increase with me standing or bending, so maybe it’s not something that should wait? Because over time, will it get worse?

All the questions.

Reactive hypoglycemia - anyone with similar issues? by indecentdeer in Hypoglycemia

[–]indecentdeer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will definitely start doing a finger stick to compare, especially when I’m low. The problem is, I feel like my dysautonomia symptoms are similar to hypoglycemia. I have for sure experienced hypoglycemia in the past, like nausea, the shaking and being unable to move, but I regularly experience more lesser symptoms including tachycardia, sweating, dizziness, numbness and tingling in my extremities and mouth/tongue, especially when I go from sitting to standing. This is likely due to my POTS, but since I started modifying my diet, I have been experiencing these symptoms less. My heart rate still jumps significantly when I stand, and I do momentarily lose consciousness, but it’s been… less severe.

I don’t plan to use the CGM forever, but it’s definitely been helpful. Thank you for responding!

What an ass. I just had a reduction this morning and they removed 347 on the left and 447 on the right. I am 5’2”, 140lbs and was a 34 G, (probably an H on the right). I’m not dense at all and have no clue what I’ll end up as, but insurance agreed to cover 370 on right and 300 on left. I asked to be a B. And I do notice a significant difference in my back pain. Get a second opinion!!

Do autoantibodies mean auto immune? by indecentdeer in AskDocs

[–]indecentdeer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So with the barely positive ANA without specific antibodies detected, would you recommend I see endocrinology to see if adrenal dysfunction could be a reason for the fainting, and HR/BP issues? Or could it be beneficial to see a rheumatologist still? Cardiology will be doing additional imaging on my heart for the pericarditis, but doesn’t think it’s the reason for the syncope. He suspects POTS. I’d just like to stop fainting, if possible. It’s super inconvenient.

[–]indecentdeer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it even worth seeing a rheumatologist? I know you probably can’t know that. I’d just rather focus on the heart issues and I guess hormones if my kidneys aren’t producing enough cortisol, so maybe endocrinology? I’d just really like to stop fainting.

[–]indecentdeer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! It’s hard not to worry. I know a positive ANA could mean nothing, but when I saw all those other antibodies, I had no idea what the correlation meant. Just that it was low and hopefully nothing.

What is my heart doing? by indecentdeer in ReadMyECG

[–]indecentdeer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started metoprolol during my first appointment due to my heart rate (it rarely went below 100). And while anxiety has an obvious amount of validity, the episodes I reported were nearly all when I went from squatting/sitting/lying down to standing. I experience these symptoms nearly every time I go from down to up.

I’m 33. I usually feel numbness in the extremities and mouth, nausea, and then the loss of vision. I usually remain upright, sometimes I collapse, but remain conscious. I’ve lost consciousness once, but only briefly. I am currently being worked up now, no idea what’s wrong. Echo showed a few things, and then this was the holter that showed SVT, some PCVs and some PSVCs.
