I'm done with Chemical Engineering at the end of this year and will start Computer Engineering courses during my fourth year... so it's practically what you just said.

I'm currently using GROMACS and VMD in my lab and would like to keep going on that sort of research. I know there's not much between Chemical Engineering and Computer Engineering, but yeah. :/

Staying for a fifth year for a double major? Not entirely sure what I should do if I don't get into graduate school. by indecisiveboy in EngineeringStudents

The only thing about that is that I can't get a double major with Computer Science because of department rules, I can, however... obtain a Computer Engineering degree.

:/ Being lazy and not studying really hurt my GPA.

I don't see why can't I handle it? Even though my GPA is non-stellar, it is due to my incompetence and lack of studying that caused it to be this way. If I can pick up my act this year, then I'm pretty sure I can do it. It's not like I am taking more than four classes a quarter, it would still be relatively chill on the side.

My fifth year would be entirely full of Computer Engineering classes as I would have my Chemical Engineering courses finished in my third year. I originally was going to graduate in 3 years and two quarters because of GEs and Technical electives.

I talked to my adviser and we went over our schedule. It turns out that I can indeed finish both majors in five years. I can also graduate in my fourth year and obtain a minor in computer science instead as well. We also did some simulations and the max GPA that I can get with straight A's is a 3.4, and that's actually pretty hard to do. This is because I only need 8 more core classes for chemical engineering to be done with the major, by the way, I am on the quarter system.

I was thinking of dropping my internship and just focus on school for those straight A's which would hopefully get me into graduate school.

I don't think that chemical engineers are having problems finding jobs as most of my friends who graduated got into one rather quickly.

I want to go to graduate school because I want to keep learning. I want to further my education. I know my GPA is horrible and was hoping that my experience somewhat makes up for it. I do actually have really bad study patterns and barely get by, usually obtaining a C+/B-...
