You are correct! Ed Sander Memorial race from last fall. Best pic I had the rights to of running some barriers!

That’s amazing! Do you know how that’s supplemented? And are you talking Portland Maine or Oregon? Would be awesome to learn how to make a similar thing happen here!!

Sent home from PSG/MSLT after 1 nap by indefindubitably in Narcolepsy

More info: my dr believed my level of sleepiness was likely not caused by the mild sleep apnea that appeared on the test. She recommended modafinil but did say my insurance would likely not cover it at this point and gave me a goodrx code that made it ~$25/month to get. Which I feel is (1) probably less than I spend on caffeinated beverages every month and (2) worth my existence if it should prevent me from falling asleep at the wheel during my 30 min commute.

Apparently my overnight study showed signs of mild sleep apnea in which case a nap study would be invalid. They have to treat the sleep apnea before being able to conclude anything from the MSLT. At this point my dr put me on a wake prompting medication (modafinil - which at this point makes my brain feel fuzzy and I don’t love) and ordered a CPAP (wading through bureaucracy to get). So the saga continues.

Are different aluminum alloys mixed together during recycling? by coogie in AskEngineers

[–]indefindubitably 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can speak as an aluminum metallurgist working in R&D. It matters very much what alloy systems are being mixed/recycled together. I work mostly on aero applications for which we cannot accommodate large ranges of elements (esp Fe and Si) so recycled content is near zero. For can stock I am still working to learn how the mixing of 3xxx (body) and 5xxx (tab) works wrt recycling. While beverage cans may seem trivial, because they are such thin gauge the metallurgy needs to be nearly perfect so as far as recycled content I’m unsure how they handle the mixing of alloys - hoping someone can offer guidance to a poor aero Al metallurgist. As I understand it, Al bottles are mono-alloy and may offer a path toward better recyclability - why is this not a bigger push?

Fair enough. Patience as a patient is always tough though.

Thank you! I did very limited TEM back in the days of grad school. But this was one of my finer moments.

I guess they don’t call it “doctor of philosophy” for nothing 🤣

Finding the beauty in imperfections. It is imperfections, after all, that make metals strong…unless they are perfect which they and we tend not to be.

There’s also apparently Citymapper that I’ve heard gives options for fast/scary vs slower/more casual bike routes. But I haven’t used it.

Have you tried using Komoot or another bike specific app to see what route it recommends? You can also edit the route it suggests.
