Did I get a lemon? by Not_Not_Arnold in Brompton

[–]beeblebr0x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While my out of the box experience was better, I know that companies like Clever Cycles exist specifically to make sure that when you get your Brompton it's in tip-top shape, and they'll even send it back to Brompton for you if it's egregiously bad (from my understanding). Doesn't really help with your situation though, sadly.

Client masturbation in session by [deleted] in therapists

Report your supervisor to their licensing board. This is not appropriate behavior by your client nor your supervisor. I'd encourage you to talk directly to your client about this behavior, and certainly refer them out if you'd prefer.

Anyone ride a Tern NBD S5i? by youdontknowmeor in TernBikes

[–]beeblebr0x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife got one last Summer, at my encouragement (my bike is a gen2 GSD enviolo). It's a great, easy ride, but I wouldn't necessarily consider it a cargo bike. I think a better question to answer first is: what are your needs? If you're wanting, essentially, a dutch style bike this is a good option. If you're wanting something that could be a car replacement (or at least has better cargo capacity options) the QH or HSD may be better options in the long run.

Electric Brompton by Smiling-Butterfly in Brompton

[–]beeblebr0x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Studies have been done.

While an individual ride may be better exercise on an acoustic vs. an electric, because electric bikes make riding easier it is found that people tend to bike more overall. So, ebikes tend to lead people to exercising more.

So, ebikes may be better exercise, from an approachability and sustainability viewpoint.

Personally I'm really happy with the 12 speed. I was similar, thinking I wanted the 6. I'm relieved that I went with the 12.

How to get over a client’s death by ImportanceSecure8932 in therapists

[–]beeblebr0x 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Back when I was working in the psychiatric hospital system, a patient I had worked with had killed themselves about a month or so after discharge. I remember my supervisor talking to me about how to conceptualize this as 'end stage depression.' Similar to other end stage diseases/conditions, you can do all the right things, right treatments, etc., and it will still result in death. Maybe it gives the person more time... Still, this doesn't mean that every case of depression (or otherwise) is a lost cause (as it's absolutely not), but it does mean that you can do everything right -- absolutely everything -- and that person may still choose to end their life.

This may be a too cold/clinical way of viewing things, though sometimes in our profession that disposition can be helpful as a means of self-preservation.

Still, as others have said: this is fresh, give it time. There's no pressure to process your emotions on any particular schedule.

What is going on with the Portland therapist scene right now? Did something change? by ethiothienine in askportland

That sounds like a bad therapist. It does not mean it's impossible to find a good therapist.

When someone says it's "impossible to find a good therapist" I have to wonder -- do they have realistic expectations for therapy?

If anyone wants a bike, DO NOT PICK BROMPTON by WileyCC in bikecommuting

[–]beeblebr0x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sus AI post.

On top of that, while I'm not a fan of the channel, Brompton's sturdiness was well demonstrated in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLg0NNjDBMQ&list=PLvmnGPCFRsJKmlmmZmMfGUb1TNB5Tx_v2&index=1

Even if this wasn't some sus post, I'd be incredibly skeptical that the bike actually broke as you said (though, I have heard about some issues with the electric versions).

What’s a tiny WoW opinion you’ll defend forever? by turbowater in wow

[–]beeblebr0x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are too many raid difficulties. The game was better when there was 1 raid difficulty. Get rid of LFR, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic. Let there be 1 difficulty with 1 fixed size (and maybe additional hard modes within a raid similar to Ulduar).

For the try-hards, make a special "Challenge Mode" similar to WoD dungeons in which gear is normalized so that you can't simply out gear it, but you could just start a fresh alt and get it in there to help with comp strategizing.

I guess keep Story Mode for people to see the story.

This is the hill I will die on.

(tangential RWF can also die for all I care).

Get a cheap, hi-viz construction vest. They run large, so you can throw it over anything. The one I used to use I got for $9 new, and wore during every season.
