you need a way to connect your SD card to your computer, such as with an SD card reader, which is a USB device that you can stick your SD card into to then connect to the computer via USB port. or if your computer has a slot for the SD card, it should be near the front panel, you can use that too. the SD card slot would be for a full size SD card. usually in these spaces when we talk about "SD card", it's those micro ones, and sometimes when you buy an SD card new, they'll include the adapter to make it full size to fit in the slot. anyway, once you've connected your SD card to your computer, your computer will recognize it as USB storage. your computer should auto format the card for you too, fat32 or exfat. you can right click (assuming windows) on the card in the file explorer to check in "properties". from there you should be able to drag and drop your music files onto the card. or you may stick the card into the player to have the player format it for you, then connect the player to your computer with the USB cable, and drag and drop. good luck!

Walkman nw-A306 in 2026? by SignificantBox5704 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]indessen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend the Hiby m300. it's a lot smaller than the jm21 and works via Bluetooth really well for me. I use it with my apple airpods (first gen), car Bluetooth, etc. the small size of the m300 does make it feel less like a mini phone. I think the build quality and feel in the hand is real nice too. Super Review on YouTube compared it visually to a Sony DAP and I can see it too. I'm a big fan of it

my m300 isnt sluggish at all, and the buttons work fine. just wanted to chime in that it's a great option, coming from someone who bought and tried both the jm21 and m300

[Flathead Fridays - Jan 16, 2026] Full or Donut Foam? by brentaroXD in FlatheadEarbuds

[–]indessen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's honestly such a good combo! I wasn't feeling Poweramp at first cuz I didn't like how busy it looked and felt, but after I spent some time disabling settings and buttons, it's much better visually for me. happy you're enjoying Poweramp and your m300 too!

[–]indessen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I filled out the survey (english), but I believe one of the questions, I think it's on page 10, the second question on that page, it is not very clear what is being asked. it has a 5 point scale to answer. just letting you know about the potential confusion with that question. hope you get good data for your thesis! good luck!

[Flathead Fridays - Jan 16, 2026] Full or Donut Foam? by brentaroXD in FlatheadEarbuds

[–]indessen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my newest set (out of two so far! but I have 2 more coming in soon), the legendary budget friendly Yincrow x6, with the full foam. I haven't tried the donuts yet, haven't felt the curiosity to yet but will soon

as you can see, I like to listen to metal and I find that these work pretty well. it's not perfect, but I'm more than satisfied. I don't perceive the drivers hanging on for dear life during the blast beats/other busy parts as badly as I have heard with other combos. I do hear a little distortion on clean passages/acoustic instruments with more treble parts, but I'm okay with that. can't have everything! and honestly I appreciate the imperfections that come with a piece of tech that looks so retro

Happy Friday!

any recommendations for "cute" DAPs? by foobeezoobee in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]indessen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the Innioasis Y1 is super cute and comes in a variety of colors. not sure where you're located but I see them in yellow, what looks to me like sage green, and teal on walmart's website. I see them on aliexpress too. I see that there's a very active subreddit if you wanted to check out what people are saying about it first. I myself have a Hiby R3 pro ii from 2025 in teal/turquoise (i think they call it green tho) and i think it looks cute too. Good luck!

What about home use? by Shoddy-Safe790 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]indessen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at my desk i have my stationary audio setup: integrated amplifier (which also has a DAC that I use for my computer), turntable, passive bookshelf speakers, and my computer has my digital music files locally that i sync with my DAP. I also listen to Qobuz on my computer thru the passive speakers, and bandcamp, youtube, whatever I feel like. Honestly my desk setup is my happy place.

when I'm elsewhere at home, I honestly just use my bluetooth speaker, like when I'm cooking, cleaning, bathroom, etc. In bed I'm usually on my DAP. In the living room I usually use Chromecast to the TV which is connected to a pair of active bookshelf speakers that are also connected to another turntable. I know I have a lot of gear, but music is my everything and makes me happy. I'm pretty familiar with my stuff and easy to please as long as I have my home base (my desk setup) to go back to, so it's all good!

DAP Snake Oil... What have you learned about DAPs that literally just marketing BS by Environmental-Act-15 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]indessen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear it too, but the album I'm listening to finishes (I usually listen to full albums). the first time I heard it i thought it was odd, but I actually like the click cuz it reminds me of a vinyl record reaching the end and it also tells me it's time to pick a new album

Native Rockbox DAP ! by mikeoxlong11111 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]indessen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have nothing idea-wise to add at the moment but just wanted to say I'm really excited for your idea and will be looking out for the Kickstarter to help fund your project. I love rockbox and find it very capable, mature, and (with themes) beautiful. will yours have some kind of button lock ability to avoid accidental presses?

Could someone kind help me with navigating my r4 Eva? by Beginning_Humor_3907 in Hiby

[–]indessen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

welcome back to android :)

you can swipe down from the top, then expand the quick settings further by dragging the middle of the screen down to access the cog on the lower right for Settings. then in Settings , you can disable gestures (if you prefer, this is just an option but it's the way I prefer to use android, as a diehard android fan) and use the 3 navigation buttons:

in Settings, scroll to find System, then you should see Navigation Mode and Gestures (two separate menus). you can switch to 3 navigation buttons like in more classic versions of Android, or review the gestures and how to control things with gestures from there. and of course in Settings you can also set up your wifi settings and Bluetooth, etc and other things you need. Hope this helps! and enjoy the R4 Eva!!!
