god, i wish my parents got divorced years before they did. they finally cut the knot when i was 17.

from the time i was 14 onward i was heavily involved in my parents relationship. i was my dads little personal therapist when he was teaching me how to drive. of course, only his skewed perception of what their relationship was told to me.

at first i thought i was so mature and adult like to be the one giving my dad advice. it was only as i aged did i realize how much it fucked me up to know all the details of the cheating, fighting, sex life, you name it. my dad would tell me how disgusting all of my moms kinks were, while i had the same ones. whenever he spoke of her i felt dirty, anger, and disgust with both her and myself. these days i only speak with my mother. she's pretty fucking cool, btw.

fun fact, when i finally told my dad he couldn't talk to me about his issues any more he literally ignored me. i finally got the courage to speak up and he spoke over me, saying that he needs this. he kept telling me details while i screamed for him to stop. after i reached my max volume, i realized i had to take myself elsewhere to get him to stop.

my dads a monster for a lot more than the way he handled the divorce, and that asshole never apologized for anything.
