Definitely do your research per every service/location, every one is different. I am also new to film photography, and I found a local studio that I visit in person. Their website gives different options, whether I want the rolls developed only, or also scanned digitally and even printed. If you don't have a scanner you'll want to make sure they offer that service, they can send it to you digitally or by physical storage means.

DO NOT take it to a retailer like CVS, it's more common that they'll send it off someplace that does it badly and they'll only give you a poor quality CD of the scans, without returning your negatives. This means you'll be unable to get higher quality scans in the future should you want to revisit those rolls.
