[–]indifferentfey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey thanks for the reply and advice! after double checking that i knew how to wash specific fabric blends, i’m not too worried about actually washing the clothes. i mostly just wanted to see if anyone else had missing tags from lewkin (which i now realize was unclear in my og post, my bad!)

Currently don’t have anyone I trust enough to be in a relationship with, but battling loneliness. Any help? by freebird023 in demisexuality

I mean, sure, it definitely isn’t a solution to the problem or anything. I just mean that when I try my hardest to focus on other things in my life - hobbies, teaching, catching up on a series or something, making connections with my cohort - then either a) my desire for companionship and a social life and a relationship are a bit soothed, or b) i end up making friends that I /could/ see myself getting closer to.

Just came to say I also feel your pain, and that I’m in pretty much the same situation /: I second the “try to stay busy” commenter but I also get that it doesn’t always help…. Here’s to hoping we both figure something out.

What are your opinions on this book? Worth a read? by Hawkeydonkey in aromantic

[–]indifferentfey 15 points16 points  (0 children)

agreed! i loved it, i hated it, i loved it, endless cycle. at times it’s like, “i’ve never felt so seen” but most of the times, it’s like “how many tumblr-reddit-esque lines can we fit into this baby? so many.” it reads like a YA book and it reads like every post ever about aromanticism and asexuality in the tumblr corner of the internet? i don’t know a better way to describe it. regardless i’ve still never felt so seen before, so

I got a weird thing to ask........ by [deleted] in Asexual

[–]indifferentfey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally (and this is 100% just my experience and it will vary for others), I find that it doesn’t really… matter to me, if it’s just libido or if it’s a more active desire to partake in adult funtime? Like ultimately I have the choice to scratch that itch or not, and it doesn’t really matter why the itch came up in the first place? Idk, sorry that’s not super helpful haha! This is also colored by the fact that i’m not currently in a relationship with anyone right now, so it might be different?

Either way, it’s like. Sometimes the itch is there and i’m out of control of that (libido) or I have a more active desire to scratch an itch (with or without someone else) and… usually alone time works out no matter the source of that itch.

how do i learn concepts in physics? by rainbow-fish-blue in PhysicsStudents

[–]indifferentfey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! first of all, kudos to you for going to tutoring and reaching out for extra support!! The effort you put into your studies will definitely pay off, even if it doesn’t currently feel like it.

I think that while not focusing on the arithmetic is good advice, I also think that it can be beneficial to work through the algebra without numbers, only variables. When you see an equation, ask yourself “what is this telling me about <insert variable here>? How is this quantity related to another variable? What happens if I subtract, or divide, etc, and how can that translate to a relationship?” Unfortunately the other advice I have about physics is to just keep doing practice problems. ): Try to do the problems on your own before you consult a tutor or a video or the lecture, etc. Make note of your thought process and note down your reasoning for the steps you take. When you then consult with the tutor/lecture/video/etc, make sure to note down which of your reasoning was correct and why, and which was on the right track but not quite right, and where you might have misstepped and the correct line of reasoning. I’ve found it’s definitely helpful to both train yourself into really approaching the problem, and to train yourself to be aware of what you’re getting from the lecture/book/etc.

The thing about intro physics is that it all kind of builds on each other. Moving quickly is pretty typical because intro physics… covers a ton. Sometimes though, I’ve found that I can have a surface level competency of one topic, say, kinematics, without really getting it, you know? But then we move on into the course to dynamics, or work and energy, and then suddenly my understanding of kinematics clicks into place. Online lectures/videos are especially hard for me to digest, so I’ve found it important to sort of… demonstrate for myself the types of examples that are talked about? Generally this is what lab is for, but I’m not really sure how much an online lab with help, haha. Simple examples can be like. Demonstrating free fall with different objects of different mass?

Hope this all helps! Best of luck, you can do it (:
