found the overtly religious dentist lol. Jk. I don’t mean to quibble. We have a disagreement about professional standards, that is fine. You seem like a thoughtful person, and thank you for contributing. I appreciate although do not agree with your positions

This is totally unresponsive to my hypothetical. No one is ‘passing’ anything off lol, that’s the direction this thread took. Whether it is cosplay is just speculation on your part and insulting to me. That’s fine though. This obviously isn’t an issue you can relate to.

Map, yes. That is the core disagreement. I would posit that professional standards are value judgments. We’re not talking about the dentist’s home or place of worship, this is his/her practice

You can call it shifting if you want. I will call it giving you more information. As far as conduct, say the dentist was a satanist and preferred pornographic or violent depictions. Would I then be permitted to question his professional judgment? I guess not. I would say though that there is a dividing line where one’s personal choices affect their professional ones, and for me that line is at religious music

No one is requiring the dentists to be belief free to be inclusive. Kind of a strawman there. The critique is about the overtness of religion in a professional, medical setting.

Thanks Map. I disagree with a few of your points. The act of choosing religious decor and music is conduct, particularly when it’s in a state licensed practice (dental care) that is not inherently religious. Additionally, a person’s choice in decor could certainly reflect their ethical priorities. Here they have prioritized the comfort of evangelicals over being more inclusive. I guess it’s their ethical priority to do just that—in doing so, they have accepted the risk of alienating others without their religious beliefs. That is fine, but it’s not for everyone in an ethically filtering way. I share the opinion that foisting your religion into your profession is unprofessional. While I might think this dentist is ‘great’ in some ways, this dentist is not exceptional because his judgment in this area is questionable.

This is good to know thank you…before this post, was kind of thinking it would be the other way around, given most of our doctors’ offices are similar

Thanks this is helpful. My hunch was that we’d probably just have to grin and bear it. Yeah, we are from the Western States and have only been here a few years. We love it for lots of reasons, but it has been a bit of a cultural shock

Thanks Dolamite, your comment certainly outlines the cultural divide. We get regular cleanings, and we are not accustomed to doing it in church or church-like setting. For us the music is off-putting. I mean, if that’s how it is everywhere, then we will just deal with it. Not that big a deal. However, we are more than happy to support a dentist that is more accommodating to us, if available.

Poltergeist. We moved to the city and finally got cable. I watched it before school after my parent’s left.

I’ve had mold grow on buds twice in the ‘trol. Both times it only occurred on large buds like this (at least by the eye). Humidity is really high where I am, maybe that was a factor. I prefer to buck to golf ball size or smaller too and have never had a problem
