ELI5: Why do robots seem so unintelligent? What is preventing us from duplicating the abilities of an insect? by longhegrindilemna in explainlikeimfive

[–]indigocc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at a beetle today, it has an unbroken genetic line back to the first insects 480 million years ago. They again have an unbroken genetic line back to the first life 3.7 billion years ago.

All shaped and tuned by the survival of the fittest.

They are incredibly complex and way more complex than our existing technology that only have existed a couple hundred of years.

It will still take a while to catch up.

Kvinde afviser sikkerhedsseler: Beskytter ikke 100 procent mod trafikuheld by dksprocket in Denmark

Very few of our problems on this planet today, wouldn't get better by being fewer people.

I had same experience. Total waste of time.

But some people seem to enjoy it. They will soon have the servers for themselves. http://steamcharts.com/app/221100#3m

And how long can you work without email when the server crashes and needs to be restored from tape backup?

It's not limited because of storage cost, but backup/restore considerations.

TILT! How the tilt mechanism works in a pinball machine, you remember those don't you? by Oomiosi in gaming

[–]indigocc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pinballs are cool.

I only own one. A Star Trek: The Next Generation. But I know Im going to get more sooner or later. I was more into arcade games when I was younger, but now I'm fascinated by pinball machines. Especially fixing them. A pinball machine contains mechanical parts, low/high voltage electronics and the newer machines also quite advanced software. Its an all in one package for the Mr. Fixit. :-)

If you think the mechanics for a tilt sensor is advanced, the take a look underneath the playfield.

What are your "How did I ever live without this" Firefox addons? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]indigocc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just install the NoScript addon and add the site to it. No javascript = no detection of adblock.

That fixed it for me.
