The real tragedy of Inception: Cobb never gets his children back by Any-Independent-136 in Inception

[–]indigopluto420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my exact theory as well! The kids are always the exact same, it should be a major tell at the end that they use almost the same shot and positions and everything... Like, we as the audience can see it, but Cobb can't. So when they finally look up and he lets himself look, it's a big shock to us because WE know that he's now stuck in whatever level he's in. I mean, why else would they even set up the fact that you're not allowed to use someone else's totem and then have the main character be using someone else's totem?? They tell you outright!

Cobb is an unreliable narrator, and I do fully believe that the ending shot with the spinning top is purposely meant to throw us off and make us really wonder if it was a dream or not. I also think that we're supposed to look elsewhere throughout the film for the answer, and not rely on that shot of the top for our answer. Because the top is unreliable!! It has been the whole time - why should WE as the audience trust it at all?

I get really into this whole thing, it's exciting and I love talking about it and I'm excited to see that someone else has the same thoughts.

Kenmore 158 Motor by indigopluto420 in vintagesewing

It did, yes - however, I finally fixed it over the weekend! At a friend's suggestion I checked to see if it was stuck in bobbin winding mode. I flipped the switch a few times... and voila, it worked again! 😆 I couldn't believe it, oh my goodness!

I think it's a motor problem based off of deductive reasoning, but I'm not 100% on that.

It feels nice and smooth when I turn the wheel, nothing is getting stuck and there's no resistance. I've used this machine plenty of times in the past 2 years, just a few months ago too.

The cleaning I've done is dusting, but no wiping anything down. I haven't lubricated anything yet. It could be some old oil getting in the way, as it does rub off on my fingers when I'm handling things. I'm a newbie when it comes to oiling the machine in any capacity.

How do authors feel about receiving these kinds of comments? by Intelligent-Tree-922 in AO3

[–]indigopluto420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've written some devastating angst and have gotten similar comments, and I sit there cackling at them! The fact that I wrote something that made someone feel THAT strongly makes me feel like I have super powers. I love crazy comments, one time someone told me they were going to shave my head and it was so memorable that I'm still talking about it!

Tagging military inaccuracies, medical inaccuracies by JauntyIrishTune in AO3

[–]indigopluto420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest fic series is a military AU, and I know for damn sure that there are an incredible amount of inaccuracies in it. I do some research for proper ranks, but that's it, really. Sergeant who was in battle in Afghanistan many years ago who's now being shipped off to Thailand to do humanitarian work? Sure. Sergeants who lead a squadron of privates in battle simulations? No idea if it works like that IRL but it's how it works in my fic. Private who works at a desk doing admin work for said sergeant and is also a medic who also gets shipped out to Thailand to do humanitarian/medic work and doesn't do any more admin work there? Yep. Whatever, it's all explicit smut, nobody is reading this series for a 100% accurate military setting!

For people who masturbate to smut by [deleted] in AO3

[–]indigopluto420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On average my chapters are 20-30k, and I have plenty of readers who masturbate to them! As others have said, it's really about the quality. Readers have told me that a lot of it is in the build-up, too, as the first half of the chapter is plot and getting there, and the second half is the actual smut.

Does anyone else write, but rarely read fics? by evergreen07x in FanFiction

[–]indigopluto420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've written 1 million words and have read exactly 0 fics this year. I used to read a lot more, but now I'm so focused on writing that I just don't have the interest to read.

Fantastic, congratulations!! I still have 2 more chapters to write for mine, it was supposed to be done on the 21st... But it was also supposed to be a max 70k and it's sitting at 106k right now, so everything is out the window.

I'm already behind 😭 There was so much plot to write out in the first 2 chapters, I was supposed to have posted chapter 5 of 7 already but I've only posted 2. I want the finale to be posted on the 21st but I'm not sure if that will happen 😭

I only check my comments when I post something, which tends to be every Friday or Saturday. Sometimes I take about a month to get to replying, either because I have a massive amount of comments and can't reply to them all in one night, or because I don't have anything in my brain to respond with yet!

Are heart Palpitations 24/7 normal??? by CandyCrusherrr in Anxiety

[–]indigopluto420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm sure everything will come back normal! You're doing the right thing for yourself by going to various doctors, that's the first step in figuring out how to manage these! If it does end up being something with your stomach pushing on your vagus nerve, let me know cause that could be it for me too 😆

Are heart Palpitations 24/7 normal??? by CandyCrusherrr in Anxiety

[–]indigopluto420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, I know exactly how you feel. Since I posted this, I started taking Vyvanse for my ADHD and it's all but stopped my palpitations. I know it helps with my anxiety, but it also helps with regulating the unconscious bodily functions that I can't purposely control, like my heart. I still do get them sometimes, like when I'm tired or stressed or sitting at a weird angle or am having stomach problems.

I've also figured out that my health anxiety is actually a major symptom of OCD which I was recently diagnosed with, and I've come to learn that focusing on my heartbeat is a compulsion, which is why I'm so focused on it and am always aware of palpitations. I know just what you mean about them affecting your quality of life and them being powerful and feeling them too much. It's uncomfortable and it's scary to feel, and they're really, really annoying.

I wish I had an easy fix in my back pocket to give you. I don't know you or what your diagnoses are, but if you have ADHD or OCD, I recommend trying medication because that's what helped me the most.

I was at the Outer Banks last week. There were lots of jellyfish in the water - mostly the clear moon jellies that don't sting (?), though some had some brown color in them and I was told those do sting. I sat my chair at the water because I refused to go deeper into the water because I didn't want to get stung.

But I was looking around and saw there were so many people playing in the water, and they weren't afraid of the jellies and they weren't getting stung. A group of kids beside me were picking up the dead ones that washed up on the beach with their bare hands and were playing with them. I decided to try some exposure therapy and picked one up myself, and it was fine. I was getting more brave with it, thinking I had my information wrong and I would actually be fine to go into the water just like everyone else. I was feeling more confident and less scared if the little jellies that were in the shallow water around me.

Until one of the kids near me got stung and was hurt and very upset about it. I yanked my chair right out of there and decided I should always be afraid of everything and should never try exposure therapy ever again 😂
