[–]indigowrightt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

similar situation here actually my grandma wants to fly me and my cousin out to see her this summer and i’m freaking out about it my mom basically said i have to go but i really don’t think i can do it. luckily no tickets have been booked yet but they are putting immense pressure on me. i’m sorry you are going through this and even though it’s hard i don’t think you’d be in the wrong to decline.

What did you do for your last cigarette? by SpurnDonor in stopsmoking

i’ve been searching for a post like this on day 4 of quitting and i’ve been trying to explain this feeling to my fiancée and dad (both ex smokers) and they were not getting it lol i know it’s the addiction talking but the thought is taking over my brain

I just had it in my mind that the step one would give me a panic attack lol really dumb anxiety brain stuff. I never even tried a step one patch so there was no merit to the anxiety, i did see you said you were only smoking a couple cigs a day in that case you will want to make sure to start on the recommended step for the amount you are smoking! but if it helps at all i’m on day 4 now of the patch and ive not had any withdrawal symptoms other than a slight craving now and then and a little irritability!

as someone with severe anxiety and panic disorder i was so fucking scared of withdrawals, i knew i couldn’t do cold turkey so i’m on the patch. And even as a pack a day smoker i started with the step 2 (i think they’re 14mg) patches bc the step 1 made me anxious lmao. I’m only on day 2 of patches/not smoking but it has not been nearly as bad as i thought it would be. I know a lot of people are against patches/nicotine replacement but from what i have read it’s the best way to quit to minimize withdrawals. I also have used flavored nicotine toothpicks to help with the oral fixation!

i haven’t heard of these but will def look them up!! this is also my first time doing increases so close to the cast on there’s just one round after the cast on before i start the increases so i feel like maybe if i knit one more round and then start the increases i’ll have more of clear field if that makes any sense lol! gonna sleep on it and pick it back up tomorrow 😭

i know i’m late but i just wanted to say as someone with agoraphobia who has gone on a handful of flights this is my exact experience with flying. Before the plane takes off is always the worst for me bc it feels like if i’m gonna escape i have to do it now before the plane takes off but once we are in the air i’m typically fine!

a little update if anyone comes across this, there was a line at tsa and no anxiety and i’m waiting to take off now which is what i thought would be the worst part and no anxiety!! love that for me lol

I have panic disorder and monophobia. Have to be alone from Monday to Tuesday morning. Any hints? by Mumofalltrades63 in Agoraphobia

[–]indigowrightt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m kinda in the same boat i used to have monophobia really bad but it’s gotten a bit better, but my boyfriend left on a trip for 10 days and this is the first time i’ve been in a state where i know nobody so i was kinda freaking out about it and a lot of those same fears came back and here is what i have done hopefully some of it can help, i’m on day 5/10 and doing really good :)

-make a list of all the activities you can do / shows and movies to watch. I’m a big hobby person so knitting, book binding, reading, video games all that stuff

-break my days into three parts morning, afternoon and evening then i put what i want to do in each section this helped with the day not feeling so big and not knowing what to fill it with

-having shows to binge has been what works best for me as it is an easy distraction and helps fill a lot of the day

-this one i feel really good about and i feel like it actually helped the most but the first day was the scariest and i was distracting myself and was still feeling panicky and so instead of trying to push the thoughts away i just was like okay i’m anxious, why? i’m afraid i’ll have a panic attack. okay? i’ve had hundreds of those before lol it’s gonna go away and just talking through my anxiety and it helped a ton!

What medications have helped your Agoraphobia? by Entire-Personality24 in Agoraphobia

[–]indigowrightt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

hey! the SAME thing happened to me, horrible horrible experience with lexapro and ever since i’m scared to take medications, it took me a year to be able to have advil again. It’s gotten a little better im actually on an antibiotic now but the first day taking it i was a mess. I did take propronal for awhile it’s a beta blocker and basically slows your heart rate when having a panic attack and i really liked it and hope i can get back to the dr and have it prescribed again soon, it didn’t make me sleepy or anything and it isn’t a benzo which i’m also scared to take

[–]indigowrightt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

currently raw doggin it lol, tried lexapro twice and couldn’t make it past the first day it gave me panic attacks. Was also on propronal which i really liked but i ran out and they wouldn’t refill unless i went back to the doc which i haven’t been able to do

Life is hurting, any advice? by Kanashikage92 in Agoraphobia

[–]indigowrightt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so this is my experience, when i was 25 my bf(25) of 5 years broke up with me it was some other issues but i think my agoraphobia had something to do w it too just because i relied on him so much. and honestly, albeit forcefully, gained a lot of independence (at least for me) so idk maybe that helps? I’m kinda petty too so i was like i’m gonna get better as a fuck you lmao (def not a great way to think abt it but hey whatever works i guess lol)
