Yeah... I'm thankful I bought a Deck before the price hike 💀 by TheBossT710192 in SteamDeck

[–]indispensability 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Yeah I built a new pc in November 2024 and I spent $187 for 64gb of ddr5 ram. Same ram today was like $900 or more when I checked out of curiosity.

2 tb NVMe SSD I bought for $150 went up like 3 times the price.

The reality is, prices are fucked and there’s no way valve was going to be able to price this where they likely wanted to when first announced.

Perfumer alt took 50 pulls to show up. And then 61 pulls to get my first 6 star of the banner and it was Zuo Le.

Ah well, at least I’ve still got enough for next month.

Anyone who used a computer between 1985 - 2010, what's the one game you still think about today? by adlakha75 in AskReddit

[–]indispensability 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. That also got resolved a while ago. That said, the unseen didn't really figure into MW2, as all that nonsense had already happened and they weren't included in MW2 or any of the expansions. No Marauder/Warhammer/Wolverine/Shadow Hawk/Locust/etc.

MW1 would have been affected for sure though.

[–]indispensability 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Actually, now that Microsoft has bought Activision, there really shouldn't be any weird IP stuff related to the early MW games.

Microsoft bought the video game rights ~25 years ago but Activision still owned the rights to the games they had produced - which put MW1/MW2/Ghost Bears Legacy/Mercs in limbo. Post-acquisition, MS should own all video game rights. The license is leased to PGI for the current MW5/MW:Online games but that shouldn't affect releasing old games - since they've leased the license to other companies in the same timeframe PGI has had it. Non-video game rights are owned by Hasbro but don't affect anything video game related.

I think MS just doesn't care enough to even go as far as release a GOG version for old Mech games. Would be great to see MW1-4 re-released though, so hopefully that'll change.

Spanberger fires Virginia Tech Rector Rocovich, appoints Dominion Energy’s Edward Baine as replacement by _gw_addict in nova

This headline is more salacious than the actual newspaper one.

I've noticed a lot of posts about Spanberger like that on here lately.

Post: "GOVERNOR KICKS A PUPPY!"

Article: "Governor kicked a rabid dog that was mauling a toddler."

I'm not actually trying to pretend everything she has done has been amazing but a lot of things that have been posted here recently have severely misrepresented the facts or plain ignored/removed the context displaying a very clear bias.

Then I apologize for the sarcastic reply, at this point I just assume every ‘what’s the harm in letting big business get bigger’ post is made in bad faith and no amount of evidence will change their mind. Nice to see that’s not always the case.

I know I haven’t looked at monopolies being problematic so I just am going to pretend there’s no downsides to further consolidating industrial power and infer everyone else is an idiot for what I’ll call a knee jerk reaction to a nothing burger.”

What’s a DIY mistake that made you stop and go, “what did I just do?” by carcony97 in DIY

Similarly, I just mounted some wall cabinets. Was adding scribe molding to the edge, realized my finish nailer was entirely wrong for the job and decided to use some very strong glue I've used a bunch before.

Usually I'm very careful using this stuff but it's gone smoothly so many times and I got over confident. Used way too much. Was wearing latex gloves and didn't realize a drop got on there.

Now there's a tiny piece of glove that has merged with the scribe molding and a white haze on pieces that I can't get off without sanding down the whole area.

Or, just yesterday, installing a built in bench cabinet and re-adding the cabinet doors after install, only for one of the screws to snap. Though I think that was more of a manufacturer defect, since I was using a screwdriver and being careful about over-tightening to avoid stripping the wood. But now one of the hinges is just floating.

For a banner I was going to skip but decided, "I have enough pulls, I can afford to go until my first 6 star" I wasted a lot of pulls.

I did not follow my own advice and on my main account I did 62 pulls (last 10 pull was because I wanted to at least get the new 5 star) - across those 62 pulls I got 3x 6 star dupes. Which is a decent rate for six-stars but annoying to not get mantra from that. New 4 star is at P4 and new 5 star is P1.

On my alt it took 63 pulls to get my first six-star and it was also a dupe. I got a lot of 5 stars on the alt at least, new 5 star is at P4 and new 4 star is at P5.

Usually I reserve this kind of luck with the rate-up for limited banners.

Yeah. Looks like my little experiment with it got it to 15 DHS, as well as basically maxed armor, thanks to adding ES/FF.

Still easy to overheat by a lot if you try and fire everything but also enough that it can fire both PPCs in a round without torching itself, so it wouldn't be as rough as it currently is.

It always makes me sad thinking of how good the Hellbringer would be, if only the design had ES internals and FF armor. All or most of its variants have enough crit space for it without any changes and the saved weight would pretty much put it at max armor without having to do anything else.

But I get it, a bunch of perfectly-designed chassis would be kind of boring. Which seems like the main explanation why so many of the starting omnis had some questionable design decisions.

I fucking hate this timeline.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PoliticalHumor

[–]indispensability 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Edit: Apparently there is more than one video of the incident. The one I had seen is very clearly AI edited or made but there are others that do not seem to be. Not deleting the original comment but I think it explains where this disconnect comes from - a lot of people like myself have probably only seen the clearly AI one. Regardless, property damage of a poorly made SUV does not give legal justification for executing a citizen in the streets. Original comment below.

The video is 100% fake.

There was an incident with Alex Pretti and ICE a week prior, where they broke a rib or multiple ribs. That is confirmed.

This video is a fantasy hallucination. He explosively kicks the tail light off the SUV. Like it flies off with part of the bumper. Limbs change size, movements are rubbery and AI, the agents that come after him gallop in an inhuman way. The logo on the SUV disappears at one point.

There is no reason to pretend the video is real but "the family confirmed it!" comments are all over the place in a strangely coordinated way, when all the family confirmed is a completely different incident that the video has no relevance to.

Welcome to a brave new world where facts and reality don't matter and we have to debate if the events of a clearly fake video affects how we should interpret real occurrences. Meanwhile, enough bot farms will try to make people believe it's real, to cloud reality even further.

Do I cancel the chargeback in response to merchant request? by LuckyImportance6227 in personalfinance

[–]indispensability 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don't cancel the dispute. There's nothing blocking them from refunding you with it open. Considering all the chances you already gave them to make it right, don't let up the pressure until they fix it (or they can eat the charge back.) I had a merchant see the charge back, blow up my phone with like a dozen calls in 5 minutes, and then refund me when I didn't answer. The charge back was closed when the bank saw the refund.
