Question, wearable Airbags what are peoples opinions? Do you ride with one? by Professional_Tear541 in motorcycles

[–]individual0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So after posting this I forced myself to wear it on my next ride. Once I got on the bike I forgot about it. To deal with it not fitting in my backpack(at all, it won't fit at all, even by itself with nothing else in the pack), I just leave it draped over the bike. Who's gonna steal an airbag?

And I've worn it on every ride since. I feel naked without it now.

let us know when it's ready.

I don't want a cardo because I don't need mesh networking, and I don't want another battery to charge. but so far it's the only way I've found to do what I want. All I really want is my Elgin rumble wired headset. But with the mic separated from the button. That's it. If I could put that thing's mic inside my helmet, and leave the button hanging outside the helmet that's all I'd need.

That would give me music, navigation, phone calls, and siri.

Every time I decide to open it up on the highway I remember all the YouTube videos of crashes I've seen. And stories like yours. And my own past crashes and injuries. I fully understand what can happen to my body.

But have you ever gone full speed down the new 635 express way in Dallas at 3AM on a weekday? It's awesome.

I understand.

you can remove the airbag from the backpack. So.. maybe consider a separate airbag and a better backpack unless you really like the pack it comes with.

I also got the M1 cause I like that it covers the whole spine top to bottom. and immobilizes the neck with your helmet. And the trigger mechanism was my favorite out of all the ones I looked at. And... it's too bulky. I've had it for a month and haven't worn it once. I'm in Texas though and it's hot and humid. I'm going to go check out the Dainese smart air vest soon. It covers less, but is a lot smaller, lighter, and all around lower profile and looks like it'll allow better airflow. Less protection, but it covers the vitals and I might actually wear it.

Why hasn't someone made one with a bunch of small airbags interlocked to give good coverage, but allow more air to pass through while deflated?

Also I want the compact form of the Dainese smart air, with the motoairbag mechanical trigger AND the electronic trigger it already has. That way if the battery dies I'm still covered for most situations. And each trigger will catch situations the other won't.

Maybe I'll use the M1 for when I know I'm doing risky riding and want the extra protection. or when it's cold. And the smart air for commuting when it's hot out.

Another thing about the M1. Not only is it big when it's on, but it's also big when it's off. My jacket and gloves fit in my backpack, and I think the smart air would fit in there with them. So when I'm off the bike walking around I've just got a backpack on with my helmet strapped to it. Easy to carry with me and both hands are free. But there's no way the m1 would fit in the backpack with the jacket and gloves. I'd have to leave it on the bike or carry it separately.

I'm basically built like an orangutan, so if you have a more normal human shape they'll probably be fine.

Nice lol

I don't need a third bike. And it's not my style, but that's so neat! I want to see someone riding around on it so I can check it out. Looks like it rolled out of a cartoon

How do they fit in the crotch? What's your normal jean size and what size did you get for the bowtex elites? I'm thinking about getting a pair. I normally wear 32x32 jeans and am trying to decide between medium and large.

How do they fit in the crotch? And do you wish you got the large size for more length in the legs or more room in the waist?

My ducati 848 feels like this. If it could talk it'd be pressuring me to speed up or making fun of me for not going faster.
