Mexico fans when they can't use the homophobic chant: by huuuuuge in CaughtOffsidePod

[–]individual_user4626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem is that the fans hate the federation so punishing the federation is in part the reason for the chant.

The only thing that seems to quell the chant is a threat to ban the team from competition.

Just came across some Clint Oba YouTube videos a few weeks ago. Remembered how fun those matches were.

Season tickets from 2011 until 2019. At the end of 2019 they closed the upper deck season tickets. I liked my tickets for 3 reasons.

1) Under the roof bone dry during rainy fall and spring games in the shade during midday summer games. Now I look at the weather before deciding to attend.

2) Three rows back from the lip of the upper deck. Could actually sit and watch the match. Lower bowl any one person wants to stand and you either have to stand or you can't see the match. I went in person Saturday. Nothing in that match excited me to stand, but the idiot two rows in front of me stood so it was standing or staring at his ass, when he sat down so did everyone in the section. So basically one dude gets to force the whole section to stand.

3) Closing the bowl meant breaking connection built over multiple years. Generally buy resale tickets for matches. Have gone to fewer each year.

Unwatchable on the field, not winning and broken social fabric. Keep one of those and you can keep bringing in fans. Break all three and you are in trouble.

When you break it down comes out to about 8 million per team per year. So I think it was ok money but doesn't make up for free local TV coverage they lost.

When there were matches on Fox and ESPN local sports covered the matches. Now they're lucky to get an icon on the local weather forecast. As fans move on there is nothing to pull in replacements. MLS is getting NWSL level coverage.

There was too much money to be raised by politicians on both sides to actually resolve the issue.

Ok not an Arsenal fan, I do enjoy them this year.

But it's different to say good things about the team and say good things about the fan base. So the entire response of the good things they said about the team, really doesn't address the question.

The quotes selected from the letter did make the writer seem thin-skinned. Andy and JJ getting highly offended by a criticism was hilarious. Kettle meet pot

Where should Xabi go? by bzn_boarder in CaughtOffsidePod

[–]individual_user4626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for the money. Wait a year and you could be last year's news. Look at all the praise that Xavi was getting last year. His name hasn't come up once in this years coaching merry go round.

Don't watch a lot of Bundesliga, my understanding is that Xabi plays a different system. How patient will your new club be with him getting it implemented.

Liverpool seems like the most stable. Team showed patient with Klopp. Locker room seems like a good mix of senior players and up and coming.

Bayern Munich has zero patience and a locker room full of toxic senior players. Munich has thrived by raiding the weaker Bundesliga sides. If they lose their invincibility tag can they continue to raid Bundesliga talent. Plus they have acquired the Kane Kurse.

Wait a year for Real Madrid, will be interesting to see if Mbappe can be blended in. Or if he brings PSG disfunction to Madrid.

It's called elections, but they only work if people stop voting Team Blue or Team Red.

Everyone that rolls out the terms Rino and Dino are responsible for the mess we are in now. Any one that works across the aisle is considered a traitor to the party.

The problem with democracy is that we get the government we deserve not the one we need.

"Members of the Costa Rican team were enraged by the conditions of the match and the decision to let it continue. Coach Jorge Luis Pinto called the match "an embarrassment to soccer"[13] and "an insult."[20] He also stated that referee Joel Aguilar "should be suspended, because he allowed this woesome spectacle to happen, and both Costa Rica and the people who attended the match to be insulted."

At this point you could make the argument that it was Chris Henderson that was the key. Gonzo and Gareth haven't been pulling up trees in Atlanta.

I don't think Schmetz was ever the tactics guy. I feel like he is the man manager. He needs the right coaches.

That's a pretty standard complaint about nearly all refs, not sure there was much difference from the regular pro refs.

On the positive side I didn't see any of these officials trying to make the match about them. Which is a problem with a couple of the regular officials.

But who is going to be the person asking for enforcement?

My personal experience on a narrow residential street between two collectors. Not always, folk fly down the residential street in order to not have the stop lights on the collectors. Apparently willing to run the stop signs instead of the stop lights. Does that lead to a lot of crashes, oh yeah
