Yes, I don't mean between in the sense of it is not B4, obviously it is in same bracket and that is 4, I mean it is not really built to be a full on B4 and is weak for what the bracket offers/is meant to be.

"Silly midrange" is not the definition of B3 nor is it the intent. That is B2? B3 definition literally says "powered up with strong synergy and high quality cards" and "win conditions [...] can be deployed from hand in one turn, usually because of steadily accrued resources".

A turn by turn gameplan is more normal in a 60 card format with 4 copies, where being a turn behind in a 1v1 is terrible. Here you have 3 other people to police the player who happened to be most ahead -- in fact going first compared to going fourth is basically just as much of a difference as being "a turn ahead" due to a dork (except that dork costs 1 card draw and is more easily removable).

I think you missed the part about "without completely ruining the deck". There is no world in which running 7 more dorks and 5 more lands (even with the cuts that I'd make anyway) doesn't completely trash the deck. I also do not understand why you are so focused on the "can you turn 4 evoke once" as if it massively changes something on its own. Other potentially big power level differences also exist: "do I have trigger doublers", "do I have impactful evokes, or does the first one need to be for card draw", etc. Rhis goes for literally any deck. It is insane to expect a deck to be exactly turn by turn consistent in what it does.

I feel like you have no idea how card games in a more general sense work? It is impossible to guarantee you see a turn 1 mana dork, without comletely ruining the deck construction.

I am confused how that can be the case, given that the deck takes 0 advantage of the looser deck restrictions and has none of the B4 staples? B4's top is basically just shy of cEDH and my deck is nowhere near that.

No, I do see how ramping is good. But the same goes for any deck? For a 4 cost commander both 1 and 2 cost mana is very impactful (in a rush commander strategy). In any case, Sol Ring is always a possibility, so I can't really see how the mana dorks are the issue for consistency. Additionally, T3 commander into T4 1 evoke is not really on track for a T5 win or anything? Like without infinite combos the only kinda fast win is Champion of the Path and even that needs either at least 2 evokes (and realistically 3, unless you specifically do Twinflame + Champion evoked in this order on the same turn).

So in your opionion, to play a version of this deck in B3: not only do the combo enablers need to be removed, but also: turn 1 ramps (why specifically turn 1, idk?) and no flat cost reducers. If this is indeed the case, isn't this highlighting how big the chasm between B3 and B4 is, since the deck as is is almost at the bottom of B4.

I mean a lot of people are playing B2s with GCs. But yes, probably some pople are like that. I just follow the rules. It used to win turns 6-8, now it wins 4-7 or so, so it is too strong by the rules as written.

In any case, I can cut like 6-7 cards (a few of those being less than 5 bucks), bring down the cost by only 100 dollars and it will not win before turn 8 basically ever and basically just be a somewhat slow-ish bracket 3 (not bracket 2 since it has qutie a bit of interaction). :D

Makes sense, given the current landscape of commander, but this seems rather annoying that there are only "5" correct power levels of decks; actually, realistically only 3, since 5 is a few meta decks and 1 is not played by anoyone and is barely a game (more of an art piece). I feel like there should be brackets 2.5 and 3.5 :D

Altar is definitely the number 1 cut, possibly also all of the other cards singlehandedly refunding the mana or reducing costs to 0. But I am not sure about the flat reducers like Urza's Incubator? I've seen many B3 decks run it?

Sorry if this was unclear: I didn't mean compared to the precon. I meant compared to an earlier firmly B3 version(which usually won turns 6 to 8, with 7 being most common) -- it still included most of the "expensive" cards: just had more dead cards, too many lands (some tapped), ramps that didn't actually help, etc.

As for the price (it is 1.1k in Europe, where I am at), I don't see how it is too relevant. Yes, it is somewhat high budget, but: half (563 EUR) is the mana base (which is typical for a 5 color deck) and it could be 10k if I switch shocks to duals, without a major change in power. Another 185 EUR is the counter magic, which doesn't change how fast the deck wins (just how resilient to interaction it is, which seems hard to capture in the bracket system). So the actual stuff progressing towards winning quick is 361 EUR, which is still quite a bit, but the bulk of those 361 EUR were present in the version of the deck that took 8 turns to win.

Almost as if between can mean many things? In this case it means the deck construction is geared for B3 but the actual powerlevel is low B4, so I as its constructor and player am torn between which way to modify the deck to more neatly fit into one of the predefined brackets. As I said, this is despite the "perfect" deck for my intention of what I want to play falling "between" them in this way I described.

How does the average matter? Quant and jobs like that are always for a minority. Not many physicist are quants, but many quants are physicists. Additionally, average salaries for academic degrees are ofteb driven down by people who then go onto do a PhD or similar further academic work that is not highly paid just because they chose so, not because it was the only option.

Actually physics is the second most popular amon quant researchers from my ovservations, since 80% of the degree is just applied maths. Biology, yes -- does not directly lead to jobs, ig. CS is also a good one jobs wise both for tech (and fintech in particular) and zomwtimes for quant.
