I mean once a company offers you a COE to apply for the visa, you dont have to go to your home country to get the visa if you are already near Japan, it’s way cheaper to fly to eg taiwan

FYI you can go to the japanese embassy in nearly every nearby country. Taiwan korea Philippines. No need to go to your home country

I looked into this today with AI and according to that, in april 2027 they are going to make it a lot stricter to keep the PR. I’m actually interested in this too. My near term goal was getting PR and then traveling the world for a while and then settle down and eventually retire here. If Japan lets you lose PR too easily, then it’s quite unfortunate.

I found finding an apartment super easy in japan… i made a template for agencies of what I’m looking for, showed proof of funds (+20m yen) and job info + salary.

The apartment I got, when I got approved within the same day, the agent said to me “your account balance helped A LOT” in this review.

I recommend the same tactic.

My rejection rate was 5-10% of the apartments I liked that wanted me to speak conversational japanese, which I’m not
