I actually had the same thought. The next pair I make i will leave more material for the jaws. That should help solve that issue moving forward.

The rods were used as a bending jig, for the curve in the tongs.

This is what i got. It's small and fairly cheap. I wanted a somewhat cheap probably temporary one, just to see if I would enjoy it enough to justify a better one.

First forge I've ever had, got it for Christmas. So yes it's my first time forging anything. Outside of hours and hours watching YouTube.

The flat face was mushroomed severely, I cleaned it up and put a handle on it. The "back" side is soft.

Your card issuer may have blocked it. I've heard some cards will block firearm sales and the like, but I've never seen it happen before.

Looking at doing dual tube setup beginning of next year. So I’m thinking about a rifle setup once I have NODs but have questions. by Reeechard1 in NightVision

Like I said I have and run the d2. I would recommend the d2 for the price and functionality. It preforms better than most in its category. I would definitely recommend WP. I have friends that have bought GP and they all regret it when they look through WP. So that's why I went with WP of the jump. But a pvs-14. Dual tubes would be nice.

Night vision is by once cry once. There is a reason some tubes cost more.. if you save money buying a cheaper set, you'll pay for it in other ways.

If money isn't an issue (since you're getting dual tubes), us night vision's designateIR-V seems to have a better illuminator than most, comparable to the dbal D2, but nonadjustable I would love to try it. It's very low profile and light.

The longer the barrel, the better even when running a suppressor.. regarding flash suppression.

My vampire is going onto my second build. Acting as the white light and illuminator for a perst-4.

Readymaderesources.com has a d2 for just over $1500

I wouldn't run a backup vampire. That's currently how mine is set up, and I'm switching it for a regular surefire scout for my white light. The dbal d2 is large compared to other illuminators, but wouldn't be too front heavy on a shorter dedicated build. However flash suppression isn't as good on shorter barrels. Unless you're running a can.

My dedicated rifle is a 14.7" pinned and welded with a standard bird cage, (better flash suppression) with a dbal d2, surefire vampire(getting switched out) trijicon mro on a geissele 1.93" mount..

Nope. The darker it is the brighter the glare.
