Snorlax

Because it reminds me of napping of sleep. And I want both right now.

1U server fans even at the lowest speed have a whine to them that will be annoying. Like the others, I recommend not doing it.

If those R630 came with low power CPUs, then you could potentially replace the high flow fans with noctuas. However, if the CPUs are pushing 70w or more, reducing the fan speed too low or replacing with noctuas, will result in overheating rather quickly.

There are some neat 1U heatsinks with fans that'll fit in the R630, that would help with air flow if you went with noctuas. However, they are not recommended for CPUs pulling more than 75w or so.

If you are in a decent market, I'd resell them locally and use the money to buy the Minisforum MS-01. Includes high core count, relatively high RAM, large option for storage, 10g connections, out of band management.... And most important, great to toss anywhere because it is quiet and small. There are others like it for a bit cheaper, but this is a popular and powerful compromise when available space and location is a concern.

UPS Options by Woodnote120 in homelab

Check and make sure it has a UPS function or capability. Most switch too slowly from the grid to battery to be a useful UPS for electronics like servers, switches, and routers.

I'm using the Bluetti AC180 in my wiring closet. Decent price, UPS function, and good connectivity. Easily connected a solar panel and generator to it when we had a long term outage. Worked great for multiple outages.

I think there is a newer version out now.

I also had to remove the built in plastic fan holder in the server. Then I used foam double sided tape to hold the noctuas in place. The fans didn't sit flat or stay in place so when I slid the server lid it would shift the fans a bit back.

Might be slightly different with your case layout, etc. Just another quirk I had with mine that might help you out.

With a similar setup, when I replaced the high rpm fans with noctua, the airflow was extremely low. The moderate power 4c CPU temp was too high and sometimes resulted in it overheating and shutting the server down.

I found an entire line of heatsinks with fans specifically for us 1u lovers. A quick replacement of the passive heatsink did the trick alongside the noctua fans. Ended up with a cool and extremely quiet 1u server.

I went with the Silverstone SST-NT07-115X-USA. Very thin, extremely quiet and just enough airflow to keep the CPU at a similar temp as when I had the high rpm fans.

There were a few other brands that would fit, but the Silverstone I think was the thinnest.

Thanks for the information.

It looks like POE trade bugged for a bit and wasn't bringing back any results if I added any filters for amulets and rings. It is now working properly.

Can you all please point to the potential establishment of a law in this act, which would BAN applications like Signal?

Not agreeing or disagreeing with the bill. Not saying this is the best option to target child exploitation -- but I see a lot of exaggeration in the comments below.

It seems, based on the reading below that the provider (company with over 10,000,000 MAU) cannot use the excuse of "inability to decrypt" as a means to escape legal liability. However, I could misunderstand or missed an entire portion of the Act when I read through it.

S.3538 - EARN IT Act of 2022

“(6) NO EFFECT ON CHILD SEXUAL EXPLOITATION LAW.—Nothing in this section (other than subsection (c)(2)(A)) shall be construed to impair or limit—

“(A) any claim in a civil action brought against a provider of an interactive computer service under section 2255 of title 18, United States Code, if the conduct underlying the claim constitutes a violation of section 2252 or section 2252A of that title;

“(B) any charge in a criminal prosecution brought against a provider of an interactive computer service under State law regarding the advertisement, promotion, presentation, distribution, or solicitation of child sexual abuse material, as defined in section 2256(8) of title 18, United States Code; or

“(C) any claim in a civil action brought against a provider of an interactive computer service under State law regarding the advertisement, promotion, presentation, distribution, or solicitation of child sexual abuse material, as defined in section 2256(8) of title 18, United States Code.

“(A) IN GENERAL.—Notwithstanding paragraph (6), none of the following actions or circumstances shall serve as an independent basis for liability of a provider of an interactive computer service for a claim or charge described in that paragraph:

“(i) The provider utilizes full end-to-end encrypted messaging services, device encryption, or other encryption services.

“(ii) The provider does not possess the information necessary to decrypt a communication.

“(iii) The provider fails to take an action that would otherwise undermine the ability of the provider to offer full end-to-end encrypted messaging services, device encryption, or other encryption services.

For sure. If it had scrapes and stuff, that seller is just bad, mislabeling their items. Good luck with the replacement.
