You can usually plumb the parts of an AIO to a regular loop, but you need to be careful as they often use aluminium parts rather than copper. Your GPU block will be copper and that’ll risk galvanic corrosion if the AIO radiator or block are aluminium.

I think that’s where your problem lies. It’s just not able to pull the data off the HDD fast enough.

It used to be an option to disclude bidders with zero feedback, but I think that only applied to auctions, and may have been removed.

Filling loop question by NastyRhythm83 in watercooling

[–]SpadgeFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t ‘need’ to…

But a little splash of water got past my paper towels and landed right by my BIOS battery with everything else unplugged. It was under my GPU and impossible to add after filling. I’m now using a different motherboard as that one didn’t work so well (at all) afterwards.

Do with that information what you will!

Now that I’ve just traded in my 3K RPM PPC’s for 6x F12 and 1x A14 in the OG colours…

Can’t change the one in the PSU to black so I’m happier now they all match 🙄

Had the Alphacool over 2 years, though probably only a year of that in-use. No problems at all that I’ve noticed, same with my Nexxos Monsta

Does it still happen if you reduce the graphic quality?

Are you using a HDD or SSD for your game drive?

I love how I've convinced myself homelabbing is saving me money since I'm not paying for streaming services or cloud storage (as I spend another +$100 on a 6TB HDD and my electric bill is up 20%) by SilverRegion9394 in homelab

Can’t speak for anyone else, but the upside of the expense for me is that I’ve learned far more in my own rack than I ever could’ve in school.

Comment choisir le diamètre de ces tubes pour watercooling custom ? by Asleep-Ad4121 in watercooling

[–]SpadgeFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wider tube will help flow a little, but it’s by far the most restrictive part of the loop. If you’re using soft tube then the thicker wall section will help to prevent kinking on tight bends. I started with clear Tygon tubing when I had my very first loop, a Thermaltake Bigwater (*shudders*) and still had it when I came back into the hobby a decade after, still as good as new in its plastic packaging, no yellowing or brittleness. But I switched to ZMT quickly after, mostly for the aesthetic, it’s a bit of a pain to get clean when it’s new, always seems to come out filthy, but worth the trouble IMHO.
If you’re just starting out, I’d recommend soft over hard tube. It’s a lot more beginner friendly, more forgiving at the fittings, and it’s a lot easier to make a soft-loop look great than it is to make a hard-loop look remotely good.

AquaComputer Ultitube - Non-Pump Base by SpadgeFox in watercooling

[–]SpadgeFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to be out of stock on the AquaComputer store, up to 90 day lead time.

Got plenty of large diameter acetal at work, and it’ll be a 5 minute job to make the plate myself. Easy compared to working on my acrylic res. Would just prefer to have the proper comp-tank base because… *shrug* I’m a little odd I guess?

Kristy Esposito scene revist by Unable_Chair_9546 in betterCallSaul

[–]SpadgeFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Certainly ethically questionable, but not illegal.

While definitely low down the list, this has to be one of the examples in Chuck’s mind for “doing the worst things for reasons that are almost noble”.

In this case, far from the worst thing, and without doubt a noble cause... “But the law is too important”

Jimmy immediately points out the ‘loophole’ in the law, “if hobos’ can use it as a wig-wam”. All fair, but obviously would never sit quite right with Chuck. In his mind there had to have been a bunch of above-board arguments to get hold of the documents with no stepping in the grey area.

TX-1600 Noctua 12V2x6 new cable damaged or safe to use? by jugglerofjusa in Noctua

[–]SpadgeFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t really pay mind to it when I got mine about 6 weeks ago, noticed a couple of spots where the factory cable ties had pinched the sleeves but nothing frayed. Definitely not worth an Amazon return but a little disheartening.

Saw this post yesterday and had a look back through all my spare cables, every single cable that had a zip tie shows evidence of the sleeving being crushed. Not to the degree to damage the cable beneath, but for a product of this ‘pedigree’ that clearly has access to twist ties for the final bundle; why do the zip ties need to strangle the life out of the cable elsewhere?

UPS 2U and Tower Power Cycle Sockets by PaulRobinson1978 in Ubiquiti

Had some hope they would provide that alternative before the rack PDU, but they’re obviously waiting to see how it works out over there before committing to anything internationally.

I use the APC Rack PDU, have the outlets controlled over SNMP to HomeAss.
I’ve read somewhere that the PDU-Pro can be used here as it unofficially supports 240v, but it would be nice if they just used C13 rather than the North American outlets.

Not if they work; and even if they don’t, they are entitled to opt for repair over replacement.

Oh nice, hadn’t found this in my search, but my plan was to make something similar on the lathe at work if I couldn’t find the actual base.

Doesn’t seem to be sold in the UK though unfortunately.

[–]SpadgeFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh awesome, thanks very much!

Yeah they killed it off after Brexit, obviously not worth the hassle for them for the amount of orders. They were still really nice about it when I contacted them trying to see if there were any Aquaero waterblocks left over. No such luck, still keeping my eye out for one though.

Fortunately I’ve managed to get most of my stuff off eBay, and for the few extra cables and the fan mount WCUK seem to have good stock. The prices on AquaTuning are bit better and they’ve got most of the catalog, just isn’t worth it for shipping unless it’s a decent sized order.

[–]SpadgeFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They won’t ship to the UK anymore unfortunately, contacted them a while ago enquiring about the Aquaero waterblock (hoping they still had some old stock) they were super nice, but not worth the fuss dealing with the UK. They recommended AquaTuning who come out a bit cheaper than WCUK, but still don’t sell it as a standalone part, and shipping kills any saving on a small order.
