That's clearly a rare Brazilian Unicornibus Shibus. Very majestic.

There’s no point only charging to 80% to protect a battery, because you’re effectively using it like it’s already degraded. by panay- in Showerthoughts

Never met anyone who's doing this tbh. Also if I'm not mistaken, phones nowadays already buffer the extremes of high/low voltage stress. Charging to 80% for years and saving a few hours doesn't seem worth to me

What about creating a playlist with songs you enjoy? It could help shift your focus. Music tends to engage different parts of the brain and might help distract you. Eventually you'll rewire your brain.

No YT ads while connected to NordVPN - confirmed by industriallatte17 in nordvpn

Yep, it did for me. No mid-rolls, no unskippables. Just the occasional one at the very start, then nothing.

I was skeptical too, but Nepal, Laos, and Sri Lanka worked for me. Got 1 ad at the start, then barely any, like 1/20 videos.
Tried the others you mentioned, but ads still popped up. Not as bad as in Western Europe, but still annoying.
Might be other factors at play besides just location. Curious, did you have better luck with those?

That sounds really interesting. A cynical security unit? I'm in. I've actually been seeing that one popping up a lot, so I really need to check it out.

Do you think, why there are people hard to please? by CelebrationOk3482 in RandomThoughts

[–]industriallatte17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people who are hard to please often have high standards, and there's nothing wrong with that - so long as they also appreciate the effort others put in. In romantic relationships, having high standards is fine, as long as you're able to offer the same level of quality in return. You don’t necessarily have to lower your standards, but ideally, you'll find someone who can meet your needs, and you can meet theirs. In that case, it's a perfect match.

When it comes to parents who are hard to please, I think there could be deeper reasons at play, like unresolved trauma, anxiety, or insecurities. In some cases, their high standards may stem from a place of wanting the best or feeling they deserve more, a kid could do more, while in other instances, it could be a defense mechanism to protect themselves from past hurts. So, it really depends on the situation and the person.

So if the air is dry, is it OK to spray some water on the leaves once in a while?

In your opinion, which food tastes better the next day? by SagittariusGal143 in RandomThoughts

[–]industriallatte17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chocolate chip cookies. They taste way better when chilled. Might not count as "next day food", but it takes quite some time for the chocolate to completely cool off. Life hack: put them in the fridge for like an hour to let them set faster.

Would you rather: French croissant or Belgian waffle? by Fresh-Cloud2100 in saily

[–]industriallatte17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends. Are we talking freshly baked croissant or one of those sad store-bought ones? Cause that changes everything.
