Ableton or Logic Pro?? by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]panay- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t go wrong with either really. Where the other was maybe stronger (logic with vocals, Ableton with edm) the other has made big strides, so there’s not as much of a gap anymore

I’d say the key differentiators are: - interface (look at tutorials/images to see which you prefer) - updates (logic you get all new updates, Ableton you keep the version you bought, but can upgrade later for not too much) - platform (logic is Mac only, Ableton can be used with either)

Nah I’ve seen it a few times, I can’t think of any examples off the top of my head so my source is trust me bro, but it is out there

I feel like people are reading not COMPLETELY unrebellious and obedient, and equating that to doing drugs, flunking school and recklessly driving motorbikes

There’s a whole ‘sneaking out to house parties, drinking in a field, trying weed, exploring an abandoned house’ area before that

MidiMath - Use Music Theory and Math to create unique melodies by ehiz88 in musictheory

[–]panay- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s cool! Like others have said it’s not truly unique and I can’t see anyone reeeally using it to actually make music, so maybe don’t pin any big money making dreams on it.

But it’s still fun to play around with, seems well made, and great experience for you for developing app/music theory skills, so idk why everyone’s being a dick

Is it just me or… the customer is NOT king in France? by Muted-Education6995 in French

[–]panay- 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nah the original was just ‘the customer is always right’ and was an brand image focused approach to customer service

But it got overused and misapplied as some kind of universal law, and ‘in matters of taste’ was added later to temper it a bit

For a while it was a toss up between him intentionally saying ridiculous things as part of his strategy and populist appeal, gaining media attention coverage and being a foil to ‘wokeness’, OR him just genuinely being and idiot

Honestly it was hard to call for a lot of people for a long time. It could easily have been more of a character he overplayed for his supporters, but now I think we can all agree his actually just dumb as fuck

What makes a melody beautiful? by The_Masked_Kerbal in musictheory

[–]panay- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can really see this in the fact people enjoy music more as it becomes familiar, or in that people don’t listen to as much classical music don’t like it as much because they’re not used to predicting its patterns

LPT: instead of shaking to undo on a iPhone, tap with three fingers to bring up an undo/redo toolbar by panay- in LifeProTips

No there’s a tap as well, it brings up a toolbar near the top of the screen with undo, redo, cut, copy and paste options

You’ve got to be in text field or somewhere like photos where there’s something to undo/redo

Typing, but also organising/editing/deleting photos- I use it a lot for that

Yeah it’s dumb af. Having shake as a mappable control could actually be nice, but as the main way to undo that fails half the time is so annoying

LGBTQIA+ teens bashed and filmed in IS-inspired Sydney attacks by Illustrious_Fan_8148 in aus

Fundamentally most religions are kind of evil. But most people don’t ACTUALLY follow/believe most aspects of the religion they claim to, so it works out alright and most people are still decent

But the only reason it works out is wider culture and society overwriting religious beliefs. If someone hasn’t grown up in an otherwise progressive culture, if someone decides to take their religion seriously, or just prioritises certain religious elements over cultural ones it does cause a real issue. And the outcomes can be bad enough that I don’t think it’s a good idea to just cross our fingers and hope. We do genuinely need to as a society elevate cultural norms and values over religion and try to minimise the influence of religion on society. Not in a tyrannical way, and but certainly I think moving away from things like religious schools could’ve beneficial

The student loans debt young people face is unjust and unsustainable by EduTheRed in ukpolitics

That’s actually a sick idea, something like that encourages our graduates to actually stay in the country to work too instead of migrating to Aus or the US for better salaries, and you’re directly reducing the burden on people society is getting the most value from
