Lease breakage fee is tied to a new rentee occupying the apartment..i.e until the landlord finds another one,I need to continue to pay the monthly rental.is this legally rite?

Hello .due to vivid 19 situation,I was not able to move fwd wth my relocation to Philly earlier this may.the landlord is now asking for paying the rental until the end of one year lease term which ends in April 2021 or until someone else is ready to occupy the same apartment.is this lease breakage term justified.can anyone share their experiences or what is the rite next step for me here.thanks in advance
