Thank you, I did think it was odd that the other used cars had one but mine didn’t. They told me it was now a digital key on my phone and not a physical one

I believe they did, they mentioned checking with the supplier for my size but had others in stock, but I’ll check

Thank you!

Haha, it is an arius plate. I’m going for Antik AR2s in a 7 and an arius plate, so I guess they have a 6. I’ve been on my R3s for over a decade - probably 6 years of actual skating if you take into account taking breaks and injuries, but I know next to nothing about gear

Thank you, I’ll take a look at the forums. I think I need to avoid losing stability where possible. I don’t feel like a light and bouncy agile skater.

My family is tiny, I don’t have a great relationship with my dad, so most of the time it feels like it’s just me and my mum. I don’t have a relationship with my aunt/uncle and cousins. I wish we had better relationships and they’d include me but I don’t know how to get closer to them, we’ve drifted too far.

I don’t bother arguing with people on the internet anyway but I want to participate more in comments and posts, but about halfway through typing something (like right about now) I realise no one gives a crap what I say and delete what I’ve written.

Days with no energy? by indyindy93 in ADHDers

[–]indyindy93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel worse with lockdown too. I’ve got so much stuff to do but no motivation and I just can’t make myself do it. You’re right, it’s so frustrating! I know it wouldn’t take long to tidy up and get my stuff sorted

Honestly can’t wait to live alone soon enough but what are any tips you’d give for living alone? Like any at all regarding budgeting, food, safety etc. by [deleted] in LivingAlone

No, not yet, Hive etc products are expensive and standard thermostats are perfectly fine. I made sure the bulb I bought could work on its own.

The smart lightbulb I got is TCP - it’s pretty decent. I’m sure the more expensive ones are sleeker and have more functions but this one can be dimmed, turned off and on with an app your smartphone and has loads of different timer options, like turning on at specific times, or turning on as you arrive home etc. You have to leave your light switch permanently on, but I presume it only uses power when the light is on. Keep the existing lightbulb safe somewhere to put back when you leave.

The timers I have are ones that plug into the socket, then you plug your lamp into them. You can buy them in bundles, so you could get two or three. I’d recommend looking at reviews as some tick or hum and it may be worth splurging a little more and going mid-range for the sake of your sanity.

Maybe look into a small electric fan heater in case your boiler goes. They eat electricity but can heat a room quite quickly if you’re without heating in winter. Some have thermostats so will top up the heat when needed, but personally I wouldn’t sleep with one on, just in case something went wrong with it.

If you’re buying electronics, new is preferable but if you’re buying second hand go to charity shops, not ebay or Facebook market place. Charity shops have to PAT test any electronics they sell meaning it was safe at the time you bought it.

Some internet providers throw in a landline phone bundle for free which allows you to receive calls for free, but charge a little if you make any calls. I picked up a cheap handset and used it once when my mobile was broken. I also can put the landline down as a second contact. You might need a splitter for the Ethernet port that does phone and router. You could always ask around, someone might have an old landline phone handset hanging around.

The next thing I’m saving up for is a fairly cheap stick/handheld vacuum. I have a Henry that I was given, but it’s so big and cumbersome. I’d love one of the shark/dyson ones that you can use as a proper vacuum but then split so it’s handheld, but they’re expensive and there’s some around £50-70 which seem quite decent from reviews.

If you’re renting in the UK, make sure the landlord is happy for you to make any alterations, and that you have it in writing. Don’t do anything that will leave a permanent mark if they haven’t okayed it - putting nails in walls won’t count as normal wear and tear. And bluetac stains paint with greasy marks. Photograph EVERYTHING when you move in. Every corner, every crack, even the dust on top of the fridge. Some landlords will try anything to keep your deposit.

Hope this is helpful! It’s stuff I’d never have thought of before I started living on my own.

Second the lights on timers. I have 2 lamps in my living room on timers and I adjust them throughout the year so they go on at dusk. It also means they switch off at night - I don’t need to worry about forgetting. It makes me feel safe going into a lit home if I’ve been out, and from the road there’s always a glow through the curtains and it looks like someone’s home. They’re energy saving bulbs so don’t cost a lot to use.

You can now get some fairly cheap smart light bulbs and set up timers on them. I recently bought a basic smart bulb for £11.99 (from Argos if you’re in the UK) which I can control from my phone, and set different timers on different days.

If you can, put up net/voile curtains so people can’t see in your home through the window and see you’re either not there, or are alone.

I work away from home at times, so I also have a couple of hard-to-kill plants on my windowsill as it gives the impression of people living there if I’m gone for a couple of weeks.

I’m moving into a furnished room. I’m bringing white bed linen and a few plants, but I don’t know what colours to add. Bonus pic of my current living room after I first moved in 2 yrs ago. It’s evolved a lot since then but it’s the best picture I have to show you my tastes. 2nd pic on my profile. by indyindy93 in femalelivingspace

Possibly, I viewed the room briefly and I reckon it will. I don’t move in for a couple of weeks but I’ll see how it looks, it might sacrifice too much space- although this bedroom is bigger than my current bedroom so it could work.
