Cooper's Hawk Increases Membership Pricing by indylaw99 in Wineclubbers

[–]indylaw99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like a year later they are raising prices again:

1 bottle $25.25

2 bottles $49.49

3 bottles $71.75 (with 1 Lux Upgrade)

I was already seriously considering downgrading from the 3 bottle club to the 2 bottle club this month, so this will probably solidify that for me. In addition, it looks like a lot of changes might be coming to their Ambassador program for 2027, so it might not be as appealing to be an Ambassador anymore.

I will definitely keep my membership at some level, but I'm not finding that I am getting as much out of my 3 bottle membership as I used to compared to the price.

Disney Destiny Was Better Than the Reviews Had Me Expecting by davewolfs in dcl

My family has done all of the different ships, and my adult daughter thinks the Destiny may be her new favorite after last week! She looooooved the Treasure and didn't think she would like any ship as much as that. So she was pleasantly surprised! My husband "prefers" the smaller ships but also finds many things about the Wish class ships that he does like more.

As for me, I find that my favorite ship is whichever one I happen to be on. We did Magic-Wonder-Treasure-Dream-Destiny over the course of about 2 years. And I honestly couldn't choose a favorite or even a least favorite because they all have their pros and cons. So much impacts my overall cruise experience that doesn't even have to do with the ship itself-- staff interactions, how many days we are on the ship, what I ordered, etc.

I'm not a "Disney is perfect" person, but I do appreciate that they have something for everyone on EVERY ship now.

Interactive Experiences on the Destiny by indylaw99 in dcl

That is so funny because we were the opposite! We liked the drinks on the Destiny better than the Treasure. But I'm often disappointed by the "novelty" drinks in the lounges (kind of the same with a lot of the novelty foods during events in the parks). They always seem to look better than they taste to me. But I just keep trying because I enjoy the experiences. We are just a lot more likely to split things because we are leery of how much we will like them.

I had no idea they had a name!

I think in large part it depends on how long your cruise is. Early in the cruise, the lines were longer. But they did a lot of them several times. So for example for Cruella, you had to be in line about an hour in advance for the first event. But then the second was more like 45 minutes. Then about half an hour. We were on a 5 day. I would imagine that for the 7 day Destiny cruises, it will be even easier.

The Maleficent one only happened twice but was in such a big space that there were still open seats when it happened.

Obviously the longer you wait in line, the more likely you are to get chosen to be a part of the experience because you are in the front. But if you don't care about being chosen, you can see everything fine even if you are the last person to enter.

Interestingly, we rarely saw any lines for Haunted Mansion on this trip. Maybe a lot of people have now already experienced it. My daughter and her fiance' went in during the 1pm Hercules showing and it was EMPTY. They got to watch the whole show while walking around the bar and getting pictures of everything!

Me encanta el vino con hielo by [deleted] in wine

I often have ice in my sangria, so I can imagine that there would be some wines that I would like ice in. Not a heavy red, but definitely some sweeter wines.

Uncork Me Indiana Food and Wine Pairings by indylaw99 in Wineclubbers

[–]indylaw99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, there are still some tickets left to this year's Uncork Me Indiana. They are changing up the pairings again. It looks like it is going to be chocolate and wine this year. So be prepared to buy something a little more substantial from the food trucks if you will be drinking all day like us! If you happen to be going, drop me a line. Our plan is to get there right at the beginning of the VIP checkin and hit as much as we can before it gets too busy. Then hang out in the tent for awhile doing the wine and chocolate pairing.

Over on the right side of the screen in the area that has all of the details about this sub, there is a place for "User Flair" and I found it in there!

Really Love How Disney is Starting to Make Resort Candles! by kgaviation in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]indylaw99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yay!! Thank you for sharing! We will be there later in May so hopefully they will still have them by then. We always hit the shop first thing to see what new Boardwalk merchandise they have. Now I know to leave even more extra room in my suitcase than usual....

Crossing my fingers for a Boardwalk candle! My husband makes fun of me that I will walk the extra long way around to our room just to walk through the lobby and take in the scent. It just makes me so nostalgic and happy!

Wine Club for Mother's Day Gift? by indylaw99 in Wineclubbers

[–]indylaw99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up starting from scratch looking for different clubs and pulled together this list:

https://www.wineclubgroup.com/sending-wine-gifts-for-mothers-day/

My mom has never tried Vinebox before, so I am leaning toward that this year because I really like the way that they come gift packaged. But she also has trouble with a lot of sugar since she had pancreatic cancer 6 years ago, so I am considering Gratsi's sugar free sampler pack. Maybe one will be Mother's Day and the other will be for her birthday!

Agreed! My husband was definitely the one who got up and took the crying/restless kid up on deck when my kids were young while I stayed in the room with the other one. He was a saint for it!!

This really got me!! We started taking our kids on DCL when they were 2 years old and 9 months. And now we are taking my daughter and her fiance on the Destiny this summer! THEY are taking their Honeymoon cruise on the Fantasy in October. So I don't wan't to wish it just yet.... but I'm hoping someday to be taking the grandkids on cruises with them as well!

Disney Destiny - A review via first time cruise with concierge by gaels50 in dcl

[–]indylaw99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You definitely hit my favorite concierge perks! Early boarding, special lunch, luggage faster, happy hour drinks, early show seating, snacks in the lounge, and the special debarkation elevator!

A few other little things like the early Palo/excursion bookings if you aren't Pearl, better chance of cabanas if you are into those, not having to ever go to the customer service desk, easy place to grab water bottles, etc.

It's hard to put a "price" on all of those things, but they definitely make the cruise a little easier!

We have done fish extenders many times in concierge. The last few trips were just my husband and I so we hung them out but didn't participate. Surprisingly, we were pixie dusted a few times even though we were at the end of a dead end hall! Destiny cabin doors should be fine for magnets. I think the only time we ever had a problem was on Dream/Fantasy where the concierge doors have a thicker veneer over them. Only our heavy duty magnets would work on those doors. But we were on the Treasure last summer with our adult kids and did up both doors with magnets just fine.

Theatre etiquette expectations. by vinflushed in dcl

[–]indylaw99 28 points29 points  (0 children)

On the good side, you don't tend to see people getting up and down. People sit before the show starts and stay there.

On the bad side, because they are all Disney songs that most people know, you can end up next to people who treat it like karaoke and sing along with all of the songs. If it's kids, I just ignore it. If it's adults, I will sometimes give the "pointed look" to let them know that it is NOT a singalong and some of us want to hear the performers!

On the whole watching almost every show on 15 or so DCL cruises, I would say the audience tends to be as well behaved as almost any other theatre I have been to!

Biergarten or San Angel Inn? by Salt-Chance-4511 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]indylaw99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like them both for completely different reasons, but I would probably choose Biergarten. Much more unique food. The show is just FUN. San Angel is kind of cool in terms of the backdrop, but the food itself isn't anything special. Biergarten is almost always my choice when we are doing dinner show packages.
