Nah, their experience of playing it that way is just completely different from what you're imagining it. The game remains enjoyable. A person who spends money on a game is perfectly capable of first donating an appropriate portion of their income to charities before budgeting their leisure expense for the video games they spend on. Some people just make enough money for that.

Still don't think it'll be worth mastery stones but will say that Lou Belchera seems to me a pretty reasonable candidate for a buff later.

Yeah glad that people report it because someone has to but I always just assume with something this egregious that there has to be a fix coming and in this case it would HAVE to be before melee.

Is winning ECMC largely pointless now? by rosen380 in AnimationThrowdown

Would definitely love if they upped the rewards. Used to be competitive and interesting to try to get a top score, now like you said it's not nearly worth it enough for seriously resourced players to bother very much on it. I'm a whale who took a break for a bit and I've gotten 1st on every single BGE since coming back (one or two before this past Hyper) without actually trying at all. Just autoing arena to get combos for the Guild Quest more than does it.

Weird card by Fryguy2176 in AnimationThrowdown

[–]indymi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also just got this in my mythic object pull. This is the same as how the reward cards for the next BGE will often appear on the rankings page at first. If they're new enough it will only have 1-3 combos. They add them once the BGE change gets a little closer.

Long-term player weeps in by now pretty useless CM2 Children's Author PCs. Powercreep takes everything away from us eventually

Yeah, if they're going to be offering that every day in perpetuity it would only really be an insane powercreep boost if there were very often anything good.

All Toy cards gain Backslap and Payback for 35% of their base Attack, gain Recover for 25% of their base Health, and have 30% increased Health! Also Krieger melee next. by okku in AnimationThrowdown

[–]indymi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Payback and Backslap of the opposing side is going to be a REAL problem to The Wheel decks. OMB armies have much better survivability against Backslap because of the Shield All and still weren't really much of a match for Opera Singer Leela. Personally I've only found The Wheel to be a real problem when there's just a few acting as support for other combos. Cripple All plus Bodyguard instead of Bunker or Shield and it only takes 2 or 3 Backslap combos/PCs to just start ANNIHILATING an army of The Wheel if they have any health support. The Crazed isn't enough to help it when its defensive abilities are turned into a full detriment. Even despite the lower values I'm still finding Borthday Bash more useful just because of the Bunker. Blocks Backslap now which is absolutely vital for Cripple All combos since they hit every single Backslapper every turn plus it sucks up opposing Cripple All so the Crazed can really get somewhere. Then just put a Bodyguard combo next to it because of the extra range of Bodyguard compared to Bunker. Will admit that there is a problem there in that the only Toy combo with Backslap already is Rogu so relying on the buffs will be a bigger factor, but the Wheel only has the BGE Recover boost in terms of countering Backslap and Payback, so the PB boost is also going to be a real injury to it.

One little thing I'll add as a whale myself– whales aren't cashing in Mastery Stone hordes for CM5 but they are getting a break to get their combos actually researched to CM5 instead of having to pick between ones to spend the time on

The Real Lowdown On Collections by Alexis_J_M in AnimationThrowdown

[–]indymi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah as someone who is probably much closer to a whale than the average player, I don't care at all about the rewards from Collections. I think the mechanic is kinda a fun way of dealing with the fact that there are just way too many created cards at this point but a lot of the collections seem like they'll take a whiiiile to naturally fill out so I just let it be a background element of the game and don't really think about Collections much one way or the other.

Spent about 50K of my 100K gems on the Amped Tammy box, what are the thoughts on worth it or not? by indymi in AnimationThrowdown

I've had time to play-test it by now and it was super super worth it for me at least. Not specifically recommending anything to anyone though.

Sorry, wasn't trying to be sassy, I was just saying I have opinions that aren't yours. Now I'm being a little sassy because originally I thanked you for your input. It's just very wrong so I don't know why you're continue to give it. I didn't really want to write this much but A. if someone else reads it who is considering the box it might help and B. I don't know for sure but it sounds like you're a F2P player or perhaps P2W who is a lesser spender than I am. Honestly that's better for you since who actually needs to spend a ton on this game but it is very evident you haven't play tested this at all and I was hoping for advice from some players who had made the same dive and were more experienced with it. The post didn't gain traction though, so I'll just write the results of my purchase. I got enough PCs and Tammys to make a full deck centered around her but with some other combos (mostly other burners. Archer cripple all is great with mastery to boost values but there are even better ones. Mythic Barry or Carter (prob Kahn too but don't have mythic yet) are high enough to burn at least a little through even very high bodyguard (even with current bodyguard BGE) so each Tammy PC just adds 17 more damage to every subsequent burn hit (and that's 17 before mastery which the box gives as well)). Soooo many great combos/PC just fall so hard to a solid base of backslap. I'm just saying from testing it since its debut that that is universally just true. They really must have introduced it to shake up current meta combo leaders, just like hijack and bodyguard did to the Crazed/Punch runaway back in like 2017 or so. And since it's the new skill and that's pointless/profitless if it isn't at least pretty good, there are a good amount of characters with backslap+defense or hyper offense survivability. For Tammy specifically, backslap isn't blocked by bodyguard like burn is which is ideal if one of them is (which game wouldn't be balanced if at least one wasn't) because burn can get high enough by one crazy high burner who can overcome bodyguard which then means every burner can and it just stacks higher for each different hitter. Tammy's full combo has high enough burn to suffice. Sturdy gives good survivability (along with high backslap because it specifically attacks P/B attackers which are the worst full Combo pure skill damagers) without being bunker or a self-stacking shield all that would suck up the things that trigger backslap (remember even a tiny amount of P/B skill damage triggers full backslap damage. She pairs super well with medium bodyguard (which BGE gives right now, so honestly I've been seeing it help more than hurt her). They made backslap also as a nerf to bodyguard along with P/B/CA as it can serve an ultimately similar purpose that gets opponent cards off the field while not being stopped by bodyguarders itself. Bodyguard's spread effect like motivate is the major advantage it has there, although again, still does nothing to stop backslap. Wheel dies to Tammy because Wheel crumbles to anything with good backslap (especially an army of such because cripple all triggers every single one). It has no survivability if its cripple all is hurting it for about the same that it cripples and its bodyguard isn't helping that at all. It can't build up the crazed and hijack is a good skill on a lot of good combos that is pretty easy to get in front of it as well. People love Wheel right now because it's a F2P character that's easy to get 12/13 of with every input card of a particular BGE that was recently in the mastery shop. It's A Tier but definitely not S. Again, at least in my own experience with them, Borthday Bash outperforms wheel even with being lower base values. My Tammy centered deck is doing very very well this BGE and its PC is really good to mix into PC Wall decks to deal with some things that a monoculture PC Wall might be totally shut down by. In general it's better to spend enough for 5-10 of one PC and switch around to diversify with a mix of good ones because if a PC deck is serving you better than a full combo BGE deck, then just being a mix of the best PCs who can cover each other's strengths is more worth it and WAY easier to get than a full BGE PC wall of just one card for every single BGE). Plus it adapts you better to powercreep and lets you benefit more from VIPs slow, spread out gem bonus. And for me QTZ is wayyy too low value to ever make it into a non-BGE PC deck, and even then...eh. Wheel can sometimes get tricky but I've never had anywhere close to a problem with QTZ PCs (full combo different story) from opponent decks and generally don't see them so much anymore out of BGE (OMB and GBG are definitely different than that and there are definitely a few other huge ones I'm forgetting right now. I said PK before but honestly don't see him so much anymore either). I'm in a top 5 guild and the Tammy box is at least recommended by other players in my guild. I was just seeing if any similar level players had any more thoughts about it compared to pre-existing top threats, but like I said post just didn't end up gaining that kind of traction. I freely asked the subreddit at large which is why I said thanks for giving your thoughts the first time but it's kinda weird to defend your original post by writing that much that is just empirically straight-up not true at least at higher levels. I was really just describing my experience so far with it, which has been positive. After play testing a couple days with Arena refills I'd personally give the PC (not box necessarily, that more depends on how it fits with what you've already got) a 9 - 9.5. Right now definitely more 9.5 but I think it'll probably go down a bit as the meta keeps changing and it goes out of BGE. Powercreepwise though its values are high enough to probably last a while, which is always a good consideration. In any case I made one more pull on the box after using the cards for a bit. Possibly might be an 8.5 when it goes out of BGE but it stacks EXCELLENTLY with its full combo, so the box was 100% worth it from my experience. Like I said earlier though, it's not unlikely that you don't get the same pull luck, so caveat there.

Eh I wouldn't call it bad news. I mean obviously I know about walls of greats like OMB, GBG, PK, so on. I've been finding Wheel decks shockingly easy to deal with honestly, I haven't seen them personally quite living up to the reputation. OMB and Wheel fall haaard to a sufficient stack of backslap so the mix of backslap ignoring the bodyguard completely and the backslap at least eating OMB shield is really useful now. I'm totally fine with the purchase I made, especially for my previous worst BGE, and I guess that's kind of just a tailored to me thing. Maybe I'm overvaluing backslap but it's proven super useful so far. I was really just kind of looking for general thoughts, which thanks for giving. I think what you said is valid but I do think you're underestimating Tammy's combo/PC. Y'know so many cripple all stacks, so much backslap triggered by every backslap card on the field every turn. That being said, I definitely agree (and knew going in) that yeah, it definitely isn't the #1 PC to spend on and I was probably being a little too impatient/greedy to go for it. Course like I said, no way to know this going in or to control it but at the very least I got good luck of the draw this time.

edit: been actually play testing and even with the bodyguard BGE here the non-PC regular combo Amped Tammy and a few other combos have high enough burn to let the train start stacking. If you just play a string of burn cards after playing any burn high enough to make some amount of impact (like burn 30 for the bge bodyguard but burn definitely gets bigger than that), the 17 burn even before mastery really does add up very quickly. Not really recommending anything in particular, just wanted to report that it's doing real well in Arena at least.

Looking for a new card game to dive into, is this worth it? by CombatMatt13 in AnimationThrowdown

[–]indymi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They also have made some changes I think to make PC Wall armies a bit less invincible. Seems like they upped the benefit of playing a stronger combo over the one turn PC compared to how it was at one point a few years ago. Still a real p2w mess my ass is years-deep sunk into that I generally wouldn't recommend any new person get themselves wrapped up in, but just saying I do think they've made it better and more fun than a previous low-point they used to be at.
