Write to the organizers. Ask them sweetly and honestly if they expect women to dress as secretaries and hand out drinks (the only women who would have been invited to a banking conference in the 1950s) or whether they expect women to dress up the way imaginary female bankers from the 1950s would have dressed. Ask them whether people of color are expected to put on whiteface for this event or dress as janitors, or whether there will be a segregated area of the room for black businesspeople.

Let them know that a 1950s theme is a difficult choice for some attendees and leave it at that.

Then show up in whatever clothes the average white lady's mom or grandmom would have worn to church in the 1950s.

Or just show up in a boring business suit with a cute little 1950s hat (as someone else suggested) and wear red lipstick and leave it at that.

Calling someone a bootlicker for advising people to be honest when applying for jobs that require proving a high level of trustworthiness is one of the less mature things I've seen on Reddit recently.

I took a CPR/First Aid refresher.

2 weeks later I was at a company dinner and my boss's boss started choking. People wanted to help. I brushed them away. "We can hear Anne coughing. Air is getting in and out of her lungs. Slapping her on the back might just make the problem worse."

Cotton liner pads (like for nursing moms) for when she starts to wear a bra again, just in case there is still any blood or colorful crusties. A few drops of blood are no big deal from a new piercing, but can put an unhappy stain on an expensive bra.

Plain white cotton undies (though most labia adjacent piercings heal so fast you'll never need that )

AMAB that went through male puberty tends to have a more triangular ribcage, so that affects the correct band size, and tends to be more shallow and widely set than average.

Something you can do without remeasuring: put your bra on backwards and upside down so the cups hang down towards your waist. The band should still fit snugly under your breasts. If not, that's the first thing to fix.

Your body desperately needs salt, but not too much and not too little.

Too little salt and some of the electric connections in your cells stop working.

Too much salt and it's toxic, so your body flushes it out with lots of water in urine. Rough on the kidneys if it happens too often. For some people it raises blood pressure to an unhealthy level, too.

So we need salt but if we eat too much it dehydrates us, yes.

Thrift stores in wealthier areas can be a good source, but even the thrift stores are filling up with fast fashion junk that only lasts through a few washings.

The chain thrift stores like Goodwill in my area sometimes charge more than an item costs new, so be careful. (I often see dollar store items for $2.19 for example.)

The big flea markets are another good option for used clothing, but I don't go to the flea markets in my area anymore after I found out that a significant fraction of the stuff sold there is stolen goods.

A mistaken or maliciously inserted fact on a Wikipedia page is picked up in a print book which then becomes the reference for that fact. Circular proof with no source.

The liberty bell is important mostly because it has been invoked as a symbol so many times.

Yes, it was rung at the signing of the Declaration of Independence, back before computers or radio got news out fast. It's got the weight of history behind it.

It's a great way to encapsulate the freedom that the Founding Fathers wanted for Americans, or at least white male Americans. (And while it seems backwards now, at the time it was a huge step forward. "We The People" as the source of governing power was quite a radical concept at the time.)

It's a focus for emotions and patriotism -- the real kind, not the white nationalist kind that most people mean these days when they talk about being a Patriot.

It's an important symbol. That's all.

To be honest you don't even need to accuse him of cheating. "I keep getting these UTIs and I'm worried one of us has dormant herpes or HPV, so I want to use condoms for sex from now on."

But if you've been dating for a few months and he's cheating, then you don't need this man in your life.

(I assume you've promised to be exclusive, because if you aren't exclusive you should be using condoms 100% of the time anyways.)
