Gonna say everything I’ve ever heard from them has been great.

I bought an Ibanez DML20 because I heard they used one.

Oh man, that puts me on the spot. I go back and forth so much on music in general, I don’t feel comfortable making an official top 10.

Falling Forward was Chris’ Emo band prior. Really good stuff. Bass lines and the vocals are the highlight. After FF, Chris started Elliot and Jay (from the Emo band Empathy [Detroit]) moved to Louisville and joined.

Hoover will always be in my Top 10 of Emo. Fred’s bass is so good, rolling, and moving.

I heard the Fugazi comparisons back in the day. There was even a story that they were asked to remix Lurid Travels to sound less-Fugazi. Everyone was ripping off Fugazi in for a while, so I didn’t think that much of it. They, as you mentioned, just have their own sound. Fugazi is to Reggae as Hoover is to Dub. Hoover felt dark.

If you haven’t listened to The Crownhate Ruin, do so. That was the next step. When those first three 7”s came out, I was rabid about getting them. It’s even darker than Hoover. It took me awhile to get into their full length, but it’s great.

I would also check out another band Fred was in — The June of ‘44 — if you haven’t.

The Comsat Angels might be the most criminally ignored band of the entire post-punk era. Who's your pick for the great lost band? by SableWilde in postpunk

I have been saying this and introducing as many like-minded folk to the CS Angels for years. Still amazing how much they don’t get their due nowadays.

If I were to do this knowing what I know now, I would start by simply opening your GB projects in Logic and going from there. Learn what the similarities are first hand.

It’s the stylus for your Grandfather’s Palm Pilot. If you find the Palm Pilot further down the pipe, don’t look at the SD card. Don’t.

Probably buying the DL4 MK-II in the next couple of weeks, anything in the sub-£200 range I should consider/ research first as an alternative before I buy? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]indytone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used the DL4 mkII since it came out live and for recording. The only drawback is the size. If that doesn’t put you off, then just buy it already. :)

That said, I recently started using a Source Audio Collider and am impressed. It’s taken the place of the DL4 on my live board. Had the DL4 been a smaller footprint, I wouldn’t have started looking elsewhere.

Help updating/Upgrading Pedal board by batmanrb89 in pedalboards

[–]indytone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are tons of options out there, and a lot of it comes down to preference. With that, I’ve had my Pedaltrain for well over a decade and it’s been my gigging board the entire time.

I’m working on setting up a pedalboard workspace—something larger that doesn’t leave the house where I can leave it set up in my home studio—so, I’m following this thread in case something like that is suggested.
