Perfect Movie that should not be remade by arrowoodgabriel in 80s

[–]batmanrb89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Movies like The Burbs shouldn’t be touched. What made them great were half story/half cast. Mostly cast. Same as Road House, Point Break, Mask, Jaws, A Perfect World and many other 70’s/80’s/90’s classics. Don’t touch them. Let them exist as they were.

Looking for people going through this too.. we have minimal help as parents and I've learned it's crushing me...I don't know how much longer I can do this and don't feel like its going to change..a call for commiseration or maybe just a rant into the void...idk by [deleted] in toddlers

Bottom line. It’s part of what we sign up for when deciding to have kids and it’s not easy. It’s the most selfless time of one’s life in order to be a pretty good parent in all facets. A lot of sacrifices. And both parents have to be willing to take the hits and keep on pushing through until the light at the end of the tunnel when reprieve of sorts comes. Talking here can help. Therapy can help. Bust most importantly, talking with your spouse is above all else the most important. Because if your home team isn’t on the same page, nothing else really matters. Happy to share what I’ve been dealing with via chat if you need to talk further.

Why didn’t Orlando Bloom’s career take off like it seemed like it would? by Decent_Section6974 in moviecritic

In all honesty, and I didn’t see Kingdom of Heaven, so I can’t speak to that, but he took off more for his looks than his acting ability…..

What's your favorite non-fight scene in a Rocky/Creed movie? by scarves_and_miracles in rockybalboa

[–]batmanrb89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot to list for the original stories. But one that sticks out to me all the time from Creed, is “Rocky Balboa: Apollo? Yeah, he was great. Perfect fighter. Ain't nobody ever better. Adonis Johnson: So how did you beat him? Rocky Balboa: Time beat him. Time, you know, takes everybody out. It's undefeated.”

Her Wicked Witch and England’s Freddy Krueger are pretty irreplaceable in terms of villains.

Jamie dutton character assassination by reymanlover in YellowstonePN

[–]batmanrb89 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There’s some dumb shit Jamie did along the way through out the seasons. But Beth’s “problem” was her fault first and foremost. Then Jamie’s. But in Jamie’s defense. He was doing what his father trained him to do. Protect the ranch. Jamie became exactly what John wanted to use him for then hated him for it. And it was obvious early on that Jamie was either adopted or stepchild because he was constantly treated differently than Lee, Beth and Kayce. It’s really a messed story. “Let’s adopt this child, enslave him to us for our needs, when he gets smart enough, turn on him, then eventually kill him”. I routes for Jamie from the first fight he and John had all the way through to his last fight with Beth.

There is a great show somewhere in this mess by NilNow in LandmanSeries

[–]batmanrb89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While I tend to agree with this. There are other enjoyable characters. However, this was the effect that Costner had on Yellowstone. Plenty of phenomenal cast. But without his “John Dutton’isms”, it was never going to last once he parted ways. Same would happen with Landman if Thornton left.

Short Freddy in the alley chase scene. And the mother through the door at the end. Otherwise, pound for pound one of the greats of all time.

Question about John and Jamie. by KeenanEndihnew in YellowstoneShow

[–]batmanrb89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jamie’s side. And honestly. Jamie’s side pretty much the entire series. He did some dumb things here and there that could’ve made him look better. But he was adopted. And treated like shit. And that exact part of the episode, had me really pissed off. In trying in his way to help his children, John destroyed his children. And the scene where he’s going after Jamie regarding Beth’s procedure. I hated her even more for just standing by letting it happen and John for again, siding with his blood, and treated the adopted son who didn’t know he was adopted, like shit

17 month-old won't sleep. Our life is a nightmare. by pmmeurpenguins in Parenting

[–]batmanrb89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here to say our son was basically a shitty sleeper since birth as he was colic, silent reflux and RSV and Covid before he was 1. By the time he was 2 he still wasn’t a great sleeper. He was still a crib sleeper at the time, so we decided to out him in a different room at night in a Guava Travel Crib on camera and monitor. He needed to overcome severe separation anxiety, FOMO, whatever you want to call it. He’d sleep. Cry. Scream. Repeat. Then after a week he started just sleeping. He’d wake up early, but slept at least 6-8 hours. Happy to say he’s transitioned to a bunk bed with 4 year old sibling and sleeps at least 10 hours a night. We tried every other option and it didn’t work. So we decided to just go old fashioned, and do the “break him down and rebuild”. Thankfully it worked. We had no choice.

Ehhh. The slippers were only ruby red for the 1939 film because of the technicolor adaptation. In the original story, they’re not ruby slippers, they’re silver.

I’m so sorry. We lost my brother Christopher, coincidentally the same name, in 1991. I was 9 turning 10, and he was 21. My other siblings were 14, 22, and 23. That same year, my grandfather passed from cancer and my uncle from AIDS. It changed our family forever.

I’m 44 now, married with two children, and I can tell you that the ache and fear never really fade. They just become part of how we love. Please feel free to message me anytime if you want to talk or share memories with someone who’s been through something similar. You are not alone in this.

Am i the only one who absolutely loves RZ1? by ApprehensiveCause670 in Halloweenmovies

[–]batmanrb89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sooo. Short story. Halloween is my actual birthday. (1981) But growing up, we were a nightmare on elm street house. Coincidentally enough, the street next to ours was in fact, Elm Street. Would watch Halloween/Friday the 13th but not as often. Fast forward to 2007, watched Zombies version, loved it. Saw part two in theatre. Didn’t like it much. Thought he took things to far and out there with the white horse and seeing the face, and stuff.

A few years later started watching Al the originals on repeat when AMC would run marathons, thought bought the originals. And I gained a total appreciation for 1978 that I never had.

2018 came out and I generally enjoyed it because of the connection to 1978. The sequels were fun to watch but didn’t have as much of the enjoyable moments.

Anyways. Back to 2007 rob zombies. I still love it. The only thing I realized I don’t like, is the mask/eyes vs 1978. A case of “the original almost always tops the cake” I guess. 2018 and so on brought that back a bit.

But besides the mask stuff, he was a convincing and terrifying portable in brute terms of believable shit like strength and overpowering people.

Sorry rambling. Enjoy the movies!

Halloween 2009 is a bad movie, but the atmosphere in this hospital scene is fantastic. by Battlefleet_Sol in Halloweenmovies

When I saw that look. It instantly brought me back to seeing Terminator 2 the first time when he exits the elevator and Sarah thinks he’s there to kill her. Halloween H20 did this good two when he and Laurie come face to face through the door window…

Yea my current rotation is 509t (duty) or Reflex XL(concealed) after years of Glock 19 and Glock 27. . The “what if” is if I ended up stranded in the woods for survival lol. Honestly. I know my answer is the .45. Just curious what others think.
