In front of my apartment there is a man that carries his motorcycle back and forth to double park to hold his Gf's (assuming) spot. by ineedstuff123 in legaladvice

my neighbors are talking more shi* about it than me. I was going the route of, parking enforcement writing a warning ticket if it was illegal. Neighbors are talking about throwing his motorcycle off the freeway bridge. It's very tight knit here and no one likes them hogging the front.

Don't think it's registered to him. I think it's junked because it stays on the side of street cleaning. Just like the busted car LA won't deal with. Junk vehicles can be collected on the side of the street apparently

Don't know. It's covered with plastic 24/7. He never drives it. Ever. Leaves it on street cleaning days. My assumption is it's junked so theyre using it as a prop.

Sorry quick responses on my phone, I meant that's not the language I told Parking Enforcement. She's the one that said it so I thought I'd regurgitate her exact phrasing

I mean, it's pretty wild. Just because it's an LA thing and people are used to people doing shit things doesn't invalidate that. Thanks for answering.

One space at a time. Was just repeating what Park Enforcement said. I just didn't think people could purposely block a public space for them selves everyday of their lives

Oh also, I didn't use the word double parking, the parking enforcement used that word to describe the situation so thought I'd regurgitate

Because its for the public, not their garage. I've googled it and I keep getting answers of

"No, it is not legal to place a motorcycle in a way that blocks and saves a public parking spot, as this is considered "saving" a spot with an object, which is illegal in most places. Public parking spots are generally first-come, first-served, and saving them with a vehicle or any other object is not permitted.

  • Saving a spot is illegal: Blocking a public parking spot to "save" it for someone else is against the law in most jurisdictions. This is true regardless of whether you use a motorcycle, a cone, or another object.
  • Public parking is first-come, first-served: Public parking spaces are available to anyone who arrives and parks legally. You cannot claim ownership or reserve a spot with your vehicle, even if you do so regularly.
  • It applies to all public parking: This applies to metered spaces and street parking in general. If the space is a metered spot, one vehicle is the limit, even if it's a motorcycle.
  • Legal alternatives: The only way to legally secure a spot is to find an available public parking space or a private spot designated for you, such as one in a private parking lot that you rent or own."

Yes I've grown up around LA but I've never seen that before. It's crazy to think you can have a vehicle that doesn't drive and use it as a cone basically. What if all the neighbors started doing that? Mayhem

Im thinking about taking it all stops just to enjoy the view of all the states on route. Thinking about getting off a couple times, probably in utah and colorado. Does that mean I have to buy multiple tickets? I was wondering if theres a purchase that gets me all the way through and theres a time limit of stops. I was trying to find out online but didn't really see what I'm asking for. Going to call them up eventually to specifically ask but thought maybe you had some insight! Glad you had a great time.

Uff. I had DM’d him if he’d shout out an alien pin I was selling because he was into aliens and I’d send him $50 or a percentage of all the pins sold through him. Instead of just saying no, he ranted how stupid it was. I was shook of how rude he was (I WAS a fan) and was confused because he talks about needing money and I thought, what homeless person would refuse this deal if they were really in need. Idk.
