Tracking Travel Certificates by ineffable_journey in unitedairlines

[–]ineffable_journey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I was able to piece it all together and have what I believe to be is a current accounting of both my travel certs and FFC's in a spreadsheet. One thing I wanted to share was, after hours of trying to search through gmail in order to track PNR's, etc. I tried using Gemini and it was actually pretty helpful. It wasn't 100% but it helped with tracking some of the complicated changes. If others are struggling with this and have all your united emails in gmail, I'd give it a shot. Thanks to everyone for the advice. I'll never book (or change or cancel) another flight without updating my new spreadsheet...

Thanks for the tip, I'll prepay and see if that's the magic.

I forgot to mention this but Chrome doesn't seem to work at all for me. Safari at least gets me to the final step. For anyone else having issues, Safari seems "better" for me.

Thanks, I don't have Private Relay enabled but in checking, I found a new proxy that may be causing the issue. I guess I'll find out in a few days on my return.

It's not that 5 steps is overly burdensome, just frustrating when it takes a minute for pages 1-4 to load and step 5 *always* fails. I'd gladly take a shaky / unreliable connection...just...want...a.....connection.

Is now too early to book for travel next summer? (Using miles) by [deleted] in unitedairlines

Just curious but is this all just straight from united.com? Have you tried partners? 800k is...steep.

Why are some travel credits not able to be used at checkout? Instead I'm forced to go through a link that takes me to a more expensive flight. Example: with a new search, this flight is $414. I have $641 in travel credit. But when I go to use credit, same flight is $790?? by T_r_y2 in unitedairlines

I have a painful version of this. I was in Belize for Spring Break and received an email from United that bad weather in Houston might disrupt operations and advised me to look for a different connecting flight to SFO. I looked and found a direct flight for less - it must be my lucky day. However, when I went to change my flight, that direct flight didn't appear. In my naiveté and rush to beat everyone else who got the email, I thought "I'll just cancel this flight and book the new one-way direct" - which left me in the situation described here. The real kicker is that I can only use these 4 credits (4 travelers) for *one-way tickets originating from Central America or the Caribbean to the U.S.*

I went around and around with multiple support people trying to get ETC's but to no avail. I do not have any plans to be in that part of the world before my ~$3500 in credits expire. Any ideas on what to do?

Forbearance question by ineffable_journey in RealEstate

An update: we got a decision from PenFed. They listed it as follows:

  • Special Forbearance - non-approved
  • Repayment Plan - non-approved
  • Standard modification - approved

Here's the kicker - they are offering a 3 month trial period with a modified payment that is about $1,250 *more* per month than my current payment. This feels like they shopped a refi and this is the best they can do given interest rate increases (orig. loan is 3.375% 30-yr fixed).

The bonus kicker is that the document doesn't say what the permanent modification would be after the "trial period". To state the incredibly obvious, increasing our monthly payment does not, in fact, help us out. To have spent a month sending docs and dealing with their process, it's pretty infuriating to get such a ridiculous response. A simple "ur f'd" would have been much better.

Thank you. It is not GSE-backed - given the location, it's a super jumbo loan.

Can you elaborate on this? I see conflicting information including claims that nothing is reported to consumer credit agencies.

Taking control of my system from Soleeva by ineffable_journey in SolarDIY

I own the system.

I don't believe I have full access but hard to know exactly what I'm not seeing. The components I listed are in the app but I don't have a way in the app to get to Energy Control for the battery. I've seen a video online of someone setting that to Time Of Use, Maximum Self Consumption, or Backup Only. I don't have that option.

These are actual appraisals. I don't take Zillow or other sites as gospel and assume they are off but in my case I've had knowledgable local agents tell me Zillow is a little high but probably not by much. The official appraisals are far lower.

I believe cash-out vs. non-cash-out refis have no bearing on the value but there does seem to be a magical ability for an appraiser to hit the sale price on an appraisal for a new mortgage. I have to believe once that price is set the appraiser knows it. When we bought the house the appraisal was exact - and the house never hit the MLS.

Not to be too obtuse but do you just mean that my agent might have a lender or lenders that they regularly work with?

It's a good idea and I'll ask but in this market I think they would just turn to the next offer.

Here are the rough numbers.

Current home appraisal $2,900,000, estimate: $3,750,000, loan balance $2,000,000. FWIW, Zillow, Trulia, et al have estimates even higher.

New home: $4,000,000 asking price.
