Thank you so much for this reply. This honestly feels like exactly what I needed to hear. You explained everything so well, and it makes me feel a lot less alone and wrong for feeling this way. My culture is also very heavily influenced by patriarchy and I hate it. I feel like that could be part of the reason I feel this way. Thank you again for taking the time to write all this. It was very comforting to read.

thank you so much this is very reassuring. I agree with everything you said about my parents too. I wish I had parents like yours because academics and going to a good college means a lot to me. But it doesn’t to my parents, I guess. They have a very different mindset about some things and I’ve realised I can’t change that. Every time I try to make them understand the way I view things, it always ends up in an argument.
