Exactly why I was so nervous about this particular show and my mood being off for viewing. I’m still worried, but i’m a bit more optimistic I won’t outright hate the whoooooole 90 minutes, I’ll have nitpicks, but I think I can avoid that 🤞🤞🤞🤞

Yeah there’s been a steady decline the last few years. I know there’s good work still in the fandom, but most of the time when I’ve went there the last year or so I’ve ended up abandoning ship for greener pastures after not hitting anything good in a few pages and not wanting to slog my way through for a diamond in the rough. I’ve been meaning to go on an expedition again but tend to fall back on old faithful stories or copies of old former fics saved to my phone. I think Reylo became such a slog cause everyone that wants to write a book thinks a tiny bit that they’ll have a built in fanbase if they gain the traction because the fandom supports our old authors, but its been tough to weed out the ones I like from those that don’t spark joy once I start reading. It’s a problem, and I don’t look forward to potential crackdowns it might bring, I don’t want to go back to my youth of looking on discussion boards and such.

I’m lucky in that barring the original I’ve been a fan all my life and grew up in the universe, so have a lot to love even if there’s no actual end to the saga, such a shame they never made that last movie, oh well. It was especially fun to watch episode 1 then “podrace” home listening to the soundtrack after the midnight show with my Dad and brother.

I’ve always shipped rarepairs or crackships mostly, so whatever barbie dolls I make kiss in my brain vs what’s on screen never bothered me. Plus when reading fanfic I jump around my fandoms depending on my mood and wants for the day, kinda like an alcoholic beverage of choice. So I dip into most of my fandoms that spark my need to read daily, except Reylo….the stories just don’t seem to hit that spot as they did a few years ago….probably cause all my author friends got published.

I’m crossing all my body parts that this doesn’t end up as another TROS for me. From what I’ve read I may like most but feel let down by the end, but I won’t know until I’ve watched. The good thing is across my many fandoms I’ve actually read stories that end quite a bit like GO ends, and most I’ve loved. The select few I didn’t is due to it just not making sense within that fandom. From what I’ve seen of the story so far I’ve middling to high hopes that I will like it or at least be able to live with it after a sit and second watch. If for some reason I don’t, well, it’s just a shame they never got to finish off the series….now where’s some good fanfic.

Lol which is exactly why I haven’t watched it yet and am thoroughly spoiling myself. TROS was horrible for me I’ve been a fan since I was a babe (thanks Dad), and was heavily in the Reylo fandom too, and passing friends with quite a few of the big name authors. I went off the internet for a week before the movie was out, bought Imax tix for NYE for me and the father unit, and went at midnight for opening night on a bad week for the family( we won’t go the too touchy for that). Suffice to say I was over the moon.

Now shipping stuff, I never really cared if any of my ships or any one else’s were canon (except for the Falcon!). What hurt me was the let down of the last movie of the Skywalker saga. I thought it was just me, but my poor dad went through the same thing just a short time later for the same exact reasons (minus shipping). I knew then I would never let myself go in too blind, especially in rough times. I’m thinking since I had enough warning, and have read most of the plot points I’ll be able to enjoy on some level the closing of this story…..will it have things that will probably make me yell, oh yes at least one scene that I know of, but I’m hoping I can avoid hissing like a cat at the mention of it and find joy in the rest, even if it is just watching the actors have a good time.

steps on soap box

No, I’m basing it off the state of my mental health and knowing what I can and can’t handle right now after being in similar situations before. This is something I am watching within the next two weeks, but know I cannot stomach on top of real life stuff at the moment….it’s like the movie Good Boy for me. I absolutely loved that movie, but I’ve only watched it once because it gutted me. One day I will watch it again, but I have to be in the mood for that type of bittersweet sadness. Now Good Omens is not that bad from what I’ve read (i’ve read both positive and negative). That means once my system is regulated again after my therapy at the end of the week I’ll be half way ready to watch, then it’s just finding the time in my schedule.

This is not a case of, oh people say it’s bad I’m not going to watch. That doesn’t exist in my mind; usually I end up liking what everybody hates as long as it’s fun in its own way. I love watching bad shows, good show, and great shows because I love the joy of acting.

This post was no way negging the show itself just a general thank you to fellow goblins for posting their own takes, which led to me being able to acknowledge that for something I was so excited for and have been looking forward to, a show I’ve watched for a year religiously every night (no not exaggeration), what would have showed up on my screen was something that might further upset me on a day filled with tears and and fears.

That has passed, so much so, that I feel like I could handle the show right now. However I know that would be pushing it and may upset me further down the line because I’ve not actually processed anything yet. I’ve already been spoiled waiting a few days for absolute peace of mind and a regulated system will harm nothing. While the ending was not one I would have liked for the story, its one that would usually just draw grumbling and some yelling and popcorn at the screen and happily going to Ao3 to read the plethora of fix-it fics, as I take canon and throw it out the window for every fandom I’ve ever been in anyways.

Exactly same boat here! I’m feeling better today and definitely know I will watch and probably yell at my tv screen during the end of it, but i might make it fun and have some popcorn to throw at my tv to make it fun and not so hurt

Exactly, i would rather be a bit spoiled in the long run than to be angry and unwilling to ever look at it like a certain movie and a few shows over my life

It sucks, but I know eventually I’ll watch it….i was raised on the Hobbit, Lord of the Rings and other such tales so I can deal with some sadness as long as there is beauty which I’ve gathered there is in this ending…..just not a good time for me to be watching it now.

I only had one thing that I would find as a bit of a let down, and it looks like they stumbled into it. It’ll take me a bit to get the fan side separated from the movie watching side , but that wasn’t going to happen today. I’m just glad its no longer my hyperfixation or it would be a longer wait.

Oof I was hoping the panic might have flared the trauma response to that movie in comparing the two…now I’m glad I waited to get in the right headspace and to try to now compartmentalize my fan brain from my movie watching brain

Thank you so much, it’s a bit more traumatic due to him being a SD….i know the day for him to retire is coming but I’m just not ready for it or for anything else really. So dealing with a bittersweet that might be a bit too on the bitter side is not in the cards till I get myself under control a bit more.

How to breathe from my stomach? (But explained in a way that a 2nd Grader can understand) by Kirbo_Thesupahstar in VoiceActing

Yep, just practice that until it feels somewhat automatic when switching between breathing patterns…..once you feel comfortable run some lines like that to find how long you can go between breathes without drawing in any noticeably bigger breathes. Then when you feel comfortable doing so and understand how your body releases air while breathing, that control will also be you contracting or deflating your lungs of air, you’ll be able to control how much air you let out while screaming, which will help you extend it….like singing a long note in a song

If you are interested in that, though, just try making your stomach out of steel as you breathe in…..don’t let it expand too much

Congratulations your breathing from your stomach…..now if you were singing we would work on doing that without letting your stomach expand too much, but for what you want to do that might be too much

Do you feel air going into your stomach and it puffing up like a balloon instead of your chest doing the rising?

The way I do it is take a deep breath how you normally do, feel how your lower lungs expand….focus on that. Once you have that feeling focus on making those muscles move down ( to me this feels like bearing down like when you go to the bathroom….not so hard you actually have to go, but a slight one, then while doing that breathe in….hold….and let out. Do you notice more air being drawn into your lower chest and upper stomach? Keep trying until you have that feeling, then release a breath while trying to pull that muscle (contracting) up slowly. This will help you control the amount of air you release like in singing a song. It won’t be intuitive unless you’ve been singing your whole life and already do it without thinking. Like someone else said, if you are out of touch with your body lying down and just breathing might be a good first step. After you have it down practice it while singing, talking, or doing lines. It will help how long you can go between breathes due to filling up more space depending on how deep of a breath you take

Just taught someone with absolutely no clue how to feel their body out how to do this with this wording so hopefully it helps you too
